What's everyone running for volt meters? I'm looking for something small to mount to handlebar clamp hoping in orange led or red. Also if you are running a meter where do you have it mounted? Thanks guys.

I plan to get this:

And put it here:

That blank really annoys me.

I started out with a digital to go with my Autometer gauges.

Then took apart a 3 gauge setup from sunpro and made a new faceplate.

Both voltmeters were/are wired in to two instrument lights with no bulbs.

Damn kj you've gone through some changes. I like the mini mounted in dash panel.where Did you get that and is it readable in daylight?

IT shows up nice, we have 24/7 daylight in the summer and it was easy to read. Direct sunlight will wash it out though, then again, it basically does any light digital display.

I used one of those Kuryakyn LED voltmeters. Just wired it into the fan switch (hot side) and a ground. Double sided tape stuck it to the top of the right scoop. It became unnecessary after I upgraded the R/R to the new type with a direct ground to battery. Then it stopped working one day, and was tossed and never missed. I got 3 of them on Craigslist for $15.00! One went on the burgman (failed in about 5 years), and one is still working fine on the Roadstar...

KJ, I would love to have the Sunpro triple gauge set up. How and where did you incorporate your sensors? Are the fittings for oil and water the same size as factory? where did you wire in the volt meter?

My oil pressure gauge taps into the galley plug near the rear brake pedal bracket. I bought a oil pan drain plug from a kawasaki and had a friend with a lathe drill and tap it for 1/8 NPT threads. Put in a 90 degree elbow and then my electric sender threads into that.

My temp gauge connect where the OEM temp gauge goes. Adapter was imperial, OEM threads are something different. I ran a tap into the coolant pipe, the hole size was close enough. Then threaded in the adapter with some pipe dope on it.

My voltmeter gets its reading from the speedometer plug. I would recommend wiring it direct to the battery otherwise you will get inncorrect readings due to voltage drop between the battery and what you are tapping into.

Mr. Dude-
If you prefer the analog look, Equus also makes triple-gauge units, similar to the Sunpro ones. They can be used individually as well. I installed the voltmeter from the #6100 set (1.5 inch diameter, black face with white needles), on my dash. I wired the positive to the brown ignition switch wire, which is the closest switched wire to the battery (the only voltage loss being across the ignition switch). Still, the gauge read slightly less than battery voltage. But no problem - the gauge has an adjustment screw. A slight turn ccw, and it then read spot on.
I did not install the temp and oil pressure gauges, maybe at a later date.
I purchased the gauge set for $39.00, at Canadian Tire. Equss also makes a white face/red needle 1.5 " set, as well as a 2.125" diameter set, also in white.
Cheers!

You can find tons of them on Ebay. Even waterproof and self powered ones. For less than 10 bucks.
