So got my 1999 last year and have been doing wee bit's and pieces over the winter. Took the headlamp apart to fit an LED bulb and well lol see picture attached! Instead of fitting reducers to the LED indicators to slow down the 'flash' they had fitted two brake bulbs and wrapped them all up to stop the rattle/heat in some type of heatproof stuff wrapped in copper wire lol did the same job I suppose, but a bit agricultural!

Speaker manufacturers used lightbulbs to provide protection for circuits, same type of resistance loading.

+1 If you ever built high end sound systems for cars, you know this is a method most will use. It is used as Fire Medic says, resistance loading of the circuit so you dont blow a thousands of dollars speaker.

JL Audio is by me in Miramar FL, a suburb of Ft. Lauderdale. I have a JL Audio system in one of my cars, it sounds great from what my elderly ears can tell me. Head unit is Alpine.

Then I let the alpine play
Pumping new **** by N.W.A.

I had an Apline back in the day. Moved over to the Pioneer Premier KEX-M900. Still love the JL W10's for overall hit and quick reaction. Along with the PPI Amps. Still got a lot of that stuff around here!

I'm running a Kenwood head unit, JBL MOSFET amps and JBL speakers in place of the 9 speaker system that came in the Volvo. It does the job.

How about a pioneer super tuner.( under dash unit )
Hooked up to a Rockford Fosgate Amp.
With your home stereo speakers tied to the back seat .
Volume on 10. Windows down. Playing a mixed tape. Of songs you recorded off your albums. Onto a memorex 90 minute cassette.
Got a supertuner III in the 70 chevelle still (no amps though on stock crapper speakers lol). I think we've still got a lot of memorex tapes with recordings (including wolfman jacks shows) laying around here (probably recorded reruns of his shows lol).

The Wolfman was the DJ at the radio station in American Graffiti.

I had a Supertuner in my '73 Monte Carlo. It was a very plain looking but very good stereo.

I still have several Memorex cassette tapes that were never opened. They actually have the metal setting on them. Gold colored wrapping. I can't even remember how old they are.

Cruising in my 71 cutlass with header and purple horses. Using my Kick ass mullet to pick up chick's, while cranking Ratt on the super tuner! Dam I wish I was young again!
