I got my Vmax back into a running state! Thanks again Miles and Kyle for the troubleshooting assistance!

Replaced the starter relay today to finish my battle vs the electrical gremlins.

Looking good, make sure you post a pic once it is reassembled as well. I had never thought of painting the scoops the same color as the bike until now... might have to give it a shot at some point.

Side covers are same color to jsut did not picture them. If you notice I aiso smoothed in the scoops so they dont say Yamaha any more.

I love Blue, if I didn't like the color of mine so much I think I'd have mine blue but I think it would look really sharp with my chrome but I like chrome. Certain colors just really look good with it, at least that's my opinion. And oh yea, damn Kyle I didn't know you were such a good painter. I shoulda ask you before I paid so much for my paint. Next time I'm ready for paint I'll pm you if that's cool with you.

Cool with me. I have been painting for years. I started painting on my own when I was about 16 & then went to work for a body shop for a while when I was about 20 & he showed me what I did not learn on my own which was a lot more than I thought. I painted tons of bikes before I left Texas & just kind of quit when I got to Florida but have been getting back into it a bit.

Kyle, you did well on those parts.

If you have a 'rashed' scoop, painting allows you to save them for re-use. It's just bodywork, instead of plain metal on-display.

The 'shaved' Yamaha logo is a nice mild custom touch, it reminds me of reading those '50's Rod & Custom magazines when I was a kid. Most of the cars then had things like shaved emblems, 'bullnosed' hoods, Olds Fiesta hubcaps, maybe 'lakes-pipes' if you were a dragstrip habitue' or wanted to give that impression, or a Bonneville racer.

Then, it seemed like only bikers, longshoremen, and sailors had tattoos. Now, the obese spandex-wearing KMart female has one on her neck, and her ankle, and I'm trying to not-think about any other locations.:puke:

Excellent choice , Indigo Blue ......... and Chrome .:punk:

I agree, I actually went back and forth between the mod monkey and the Bling award nomination when I nominated your bike Rollie, but after seeing all the mods on "both" your bikes I kinda thought the mm should be first. That is a beautiful bike. Nice job.

Thank you . There are so many great looking Maxes on our site , I only wish ( sometimes ) , I had bought someones dream and turned that into mine , instead of beginning with a stocker and spending all that monkey money to get 'em where they are.

For example : $ 5 K would have bought this example from C.L. about 3 weeks ago . I scrambled but could not raise that quick enough . I figure he had about $ 12 K in it. Oh well.

Painted Christines Vmax today she has been bugging me to do this forever but its such a pain in the ass that I have been putting it off. I am still gonna sand it down & put some more clear on it & probably throw some pearl at it. I will get some better pics when I am done.

I would sell a kidney for that max. Really sick.

Nice work Kyle, that paint is bitchin!!!
Thanks all ! You dont have to worry about me doing this particular paint for any one its to much of a pain. I painted it Friday & did not like It so I sanded it down & started over again. Im still not perfectly happy with it but Christine is gonna have to like it for now. I am gonna put a darker pearl in some clear & go over this to try make it pop a little more but then I am done.

Install titanium header rap, Drain the antifreeze and replace the 4 cylinders rubber plugs with new 1's. And used Chevy orange antifreeze. My bike temperature all ways stayed in the middle never going up when hot. I took the bike out for a test run. The bike temperature drop about 1/8" of a inch from the middle where it use to be. I bought 2" x 50' feet for the $34.00 from this company -
performanceplusconnection.com through amazon.com.
