And here I was excited to see that it didn't get below freezing overnite for the first time since November! Oh well, it should hit 38 today and snow is melting. Any progress on that front is good, right?
Anyway, glad to hear some of us snowbound riders are getting out!

I've lived in the south (Atlanta, GA. and New Orleans, LA.) and it is nice enough for sure. I grew up in Michigan and enjoy the 4 seasons, each of them for the changes they bring. Late in any longer than normal winter always leads to a heightened need for it to end, but it is what it is. Besides they can keep all their reptiles and the like, much rather deal with bears, moose, mountain lions, wolves and coyotes any day!:biglaugh:

Me too on the animals but it sure does teach you guys patience I guess . As soon as my wifey can retire I'm packing my shit and heading south somewhere carolina's but keeping my property in wva for that special tasty backstrapping mammal.. I do like the winter but this is enuff

Finally got the bike out of storage today! YAY!!!

Took her for a spin, and she ran perfect. I do want to get her in though to have the oil changed. I would do the job myself, but I have nothing to store the waste oil in. Welp... Better get her in at Starting Line. (Sean, Sunny there says Hi, BTW lol)

While I was parked at Dunkin Donuts, I did notice that I need to get the right hand fork seal replaced. Other than it being dirty, that is the ONLY thing wrong with the bike. (Well, that and needing frame braces, chain drive, USD forks from a Busa, clip-ons and rearsets... ect

Use a milk jug

Our construction building runs a oil fired furnace where I can also drop off my used oil for disposal. I have a large oil pan that has a spout on it so it holds 4-5 bike/ truck oil changes but I usually fill a couple gal containers so the pan is easier to move around.

I use an old bed pan to catch oil and then transfer that to a big plastic kitty litter container. I Have way too many vehicles and I change oil religiously. If you use a milk carton recycle soon it could leak after a while( very thin walls) and cause a friggen mess. (don't ask me how I know this)

Welp... went out to the bike today with a set of Clubman bars that I had gotten for $30. They're a no-go unless they were cut and rewelded to give them less pullback. Unfortunately, every place I talked to said that such welds would become a safety issue.

I could have adjusted them to a point where there would not be interference with the air box cover, but then they feel like the grips are pointing way too far downward.

I guess I would need to raise the forktubes in the clamps, and mount clip-on bars.
If I did that, then I would want different risers and use them to mount a matched speedo and tach.

Guess I shall be window-shopping for ideas on how I shall do this.

Ideas anyone?

I picked up some ape-hangers for $10.00, six years ago. I wanted more rise and pullback than the OEM bars provided, but not the 10'' that the hangers had.
So I cut them in the appropriate spot, and then used solid round stock, the same inside diameter of the bars(I think 5/8"), to join the pieces back together. The round stock pieces were as long as possible, about 3 inches. The joints were fastened both mechanically (drilled as a unit, 3/16" round stock driven in), and then welded. The solid round stock prevents any burn-through.
Then the joints were filed down smooth, and painted. The joint sections are not seen because of the fairings I use on the bike.
Doable - but let your welder/fabricator have the final say.
Cheers!
