Got it fixed yesterday not sure how it got detached what I thought was gonna be a quick trip to the optometrist turned into an all day affair with the specialist who dropped what he was doing and told me to go meet him in Knoxville for surgery. I am dead in the water with the type of work I do for a while. He told me to stay away from any of it for at least 2 weeks not that I can see well enough to do it anyway. He said it will probably take at least 6 weeks to heal and then won't be like it was.

You know what you did , probably took one of those 1500 cc monster V-Maxes out and rode it so hard to show how hard it pulls to a buyer , next thing you know you hit the upgraded brakes so hard your retina detached , negative G's will get you every time !! LOL , I do hope you feel better soon
 
Ok, guys here's one for you. I finished rebuilding all 4 carbs, put everything back together, and started it up. It ran ok. I realize I have to sync the carbs which should help. I shut it down put the air box on it, tightened up the clamps on the velocity stacks, installed air filter and cover and started it back up. It immediately rev'd to 9,000rpm. I shut it off, took off the air filter cover and filter and started it again. All was fine, idling a little high but ok. I went to put the air cover back on, without the air filter in it and it immediately started reving on it's own. I didn't even get the cover on all the way!!! As I pulled the cover away the rev's would go down and as I went to put it on and got it close to being on the rev's would rise. I could modulate the rev's by moving the cover back and forth. WTF!!!!!!!
 
Sounds like you're pinching the bellcrank with maybe the carnkcase vent hose, or the vent hoses, causing the revs to skyrocket.
 
Are the throttle cables located correctly in the carbs?

Other than witchcraft, the only explanation I have for what you are experiencing is the airbod is pushing on the throttle cables causing them to pull ooen the butterflies.

Or possibly the rubber stacks between carbs and vboost manifold are not seated properly - the are small lugs on the vboost manifold that the rubber stacks butt up against, so if they are not seated properly, pushing the airbox makes a gap for air to be drawn into the engine


Im certain this is due to incorrect reassembly.
 
The vent hos at the bottom of the velocity stack cover was not connected. The throttle cables are routed correctly and the butterflies closed until I twist the throttle. The weird part is that the airfilter cover is not even touching the velocity stack box and the revs start rising, I don't think. I'll see if I can get a video. Witchcraft was my first thought...lol
