I've been having problems with my bike firing up,( I just talked with Sean, and he's sending parts) but my cousin had a Vmax but sold it. And last night he gave me a new in the box R/R he had. I was just curious whether this might have been my problem. I just pulled the battery to take and have tested but was wondering as to putting the new R/R on or should I keep it until really needed. I'm not great with electrical parts and was wondering if someone could explain (in simple form) what it does. Thanks, Ed

It converts the three phase AC power of the stator to a usable DC current for the battery and regulates it to 13.5 volts or so.

If the new one has a ground wire and the old one doesn't, swap 'em.

the R/R (Regulator/Rectefier) changes the a/c current coming from your stator to D/C curent then it controlls the voltage output to the correct charging voltage, thus keeping the battery to its full charge. looks like you allready checked the charging voltage so that should be ok. i would continue and have the battery checked.
