What helmet are you wearing?

Just came back from the store. I ended up going with the Shoei Qwest with an Antrhacite finish(thanks for the recommendations dmax1 and everyone really). When I got to the store they had several brands(no Sharks unfortunately). I got a pretty odd shaped noggin, I tried on the Icons(none of those fit worth a damn), Scorpions(not bad on fit up top, but chin guards were right up against my mouth and couldnt even get two fingers between it), HJC(didn't fit), Bell(not a good fit), Speed and Strength(either too tight or too loose between XL and XXL). The Shoei fit like a glove surprisingly.

Our head shapes may be similar, I have a Shoei RF1000 that fits well. I also have a Vemar VTXE (Italian made) that is more comfortable albeit may be just a tad more noisy. Both are sized xxxl, which is why I have such a hard time finding good fitting and comfortable helmets. I had a modular helmet but it was noisy and would not protect as well as an full face. I'm sure they are warmer than the beanies/ half helmets but that's the price I'm willing to pay for protection. The last half helmet I wore was when I got my first bike and DT250, I was 16 so I just used what I already used for my snowmobile.

I had a half helmet for awhile. The wind at high speed and bugs to the face got old. I recently switched to a HJC full face. The helmet itself is OK but it gets hot when sitting in traffic and I feel like they block periphial vision.

First thing I do when I buy a MX helmet is remove the visor. Again, I feel like they affect visibility.

Shoei fits my head. I'm currently using a GT-Air. It's not as breezy as my X-11 was, but it has that flip-down visor and space for speakers with built-in chin curtain and stuff. I like it.

I've been wanting to get a new modular helmet for a while now. This may be my year. So, after reading some of this thread I started shopping on-line. I've had Shoei full-face helmets all these years and have been ok with them for the most part. Good fit. Vents useless. A bit noisy as time used.

So I watched a video on Revzilla and liked the concept of the Shark Evoline 3 with the way the bar flips all the way to the back. I plan to ride around in nice weather with it open up to about 30MPH or so but especially while stopped.

That's it. Just wanted to chime in. I guess i'm going to need to find a place that sells them locally and definatley try one on. Maybe see if I can take one for a spin would be even better.

I wear an HJC FS-10 (Medium) and I like it, it fits my head perfectly.
It is a bit hot in summer if not moving but I tend to stay away from traffic as much as possible anyways.
I also have a half helmet I wear around town on low speed rides.

I think I've only ever tried on one Shark helmet. I can't remember if it fit similar to y Shoeis. You should ask on Reveille if anyone owns both. The gear geeks are really good at that stuff.

That's where my Memphis Shade windshield comes in.

The combo of the beanie and windshield work great for me.

I've worn my Shark Evoline w/the chin bar open to triple-digit speeds and it's not lifting off my head, nor pulling my head back like every other modular helmet will/does while open. I have a Shoei head, Arais don't fit me, but the Shark Evoline modular was a good truly-sized fit right out of the box. My last couple helmets before the Shark were Shoeis, including a new Duo-Tec. The Shark was all-around better than the Duo-Tec. My first Shoei was their first one to use Kevlar, I forget what it was called, back in the early '80's.

+1. I currently use a HJC half lid. Tried a couple full face, found them too noisy, hot, and vision restricting.
Besides, I LIKE the wind in my face! My wife says it does wonders for my complexion!:eusa_dance:

For me the Shoie is the most comfortable, HJC a close second . I bought a carbon fiber helmet last season. I can barely tell it's on, but the thing is loud.

I have a HD half with a slide down visor I wear when it's warm and a super cheap Vega X-888 with a tinted, mirrored visor I wear on trips or in cool weather. The Harley half catches a LOT of wind and starts to move around above 80 or so but is comfortable. The Vega surprised me though. It's decently quiet, fits well, and is fairly comfortable. Downside is I imagine it will be pretty warm when the weather gets hot since it only has two vent holes in the front and nothing in the back.
