looks like heated gear jack? similar to a headphone jack on some models a believe

I'll bet it's almost certainly a 12v power jack for some sort of communicator device. Ones I've seen have headphone cord style connectors for power.

Heated gear typically uses an RCA style jack, like the cables that connect a dvd player to your tv.
