Yeah my buddy is going to see if he can't do it himself. While he hasn't worked with these motors before he does know a lot about bikes and what not.

My build is going to stay at or around $3000 total. I have a ton of extra parts i need to get sold, plus a 1998, 2004, and the 1985 motor that is currently in the bike.

I contacted Sean Morley about it but he is away and just gave me some spreadsheet that really doesn't make much since to me. If i were to trade in all three motors as cores what do you think i can get a running motor for?

Good question. I would hold off and talk to Sean when he gets home. If he wants all 3 cores I am sure he will give you a good deal as Sean is one of the most honest and above board people I have ever done business with. I would not bet against him giving you good money for the cores and it costing you less than the $3k you have budgeted to get a very nice motor from Sean. I had my engine built by PCW, but it was for considerably more than the $3k you have budgeted:biglaugh:

Well i no longer have 3k... $700 went to bodywork, $160 to headlight, Buddy is machining triple tree's to install R1 forks as we speak, And i hope to be able to put the GSXR wheels he has sitting around on the bike as well. Plus paint and powder coat will be about $800 total.
 
how is he going to do the rear rim? that won't be cheap.
 
Budget builds are possible. Really depends on what someone is willing to pay for the cores. One question is, do the cores run? Knowing Lankee I doubt it, but if they do they are obviously worth more. I would just communicate with Sean and see what you can work out with him. As I said before he will not yank you around and you will get the best deal out there from him.

Yeah i'm just waiting for him to get back home next week... And see if my friend can diagnose and fix the problem. The 85 motor does run but has the knocking noise... The 2004, and 98 but have a spun rod bearing.
 
I think the 85 has had the oil filter flange broken off and welded back on (there is a thread around here about that) - http://www.vmaxforum.net/showpost.php?p=50510&postcount=11

He also said it ran the best out of all his engines. BUT, knowing what he was doing with it I'd say it's probably junked out by now and the reason he decided to sell it (since it was his third engine and he wasn't happy with the repeated failures).

i hate to say this but id' be apprehensive about the engines, and sean may be right on saying they're probably pretty destroyed.

There is some posts a while back when he was talking about not being able to keep an engine in it for more than a year.
 
Lol not saying the motors aren't blown... I'm well aware of that! The 85 motor i really don't know much about. But no one seems to be able to tell me what they are worth, even if it isn't very much...


And i wanted to ask about vboost as well. I know he ripped out the whole vboost motor (cause he was an idiot), and did all those redneck mods to the carbs. How will this affect fuel mileage? Not looking to get 50mpg or anything. But what would i need to do to get the vboost back in so that i can install the tboost controller and have some control over it. Will this affect the redneck mods he did? Any info?
 
The situation with this motor and the redneck tune he did on the carbs is down right depressing!!! :(

And on top of all that i'm not at home to do anything about it. Stuck in this **** hole of a country. I just hope my buddy doesn't get overwhelmed with it!

Kansas at my buddy's shop. There's no going back now. I'm just gonna try and sell my motors i have for parts along with all the extra' coming off my bike and bite the bullet and buy a motor from someone.
 
The bike ran well from the numbers he put up. I'll get you more info when we get back home. Did you get the spreadsheet with the engine builds though?

Yeah i got the spread sheet. Thanks a lot for sending that. But i'm not gonna lie to you one bit, when it comes to the mechanics of a motor it's all Greek to me :ummm:... I know the basics and maybe a few extra's here and there but i get lost pretty easy.

I'm looking to do partial trade with the motors i have (i know they aren't worth much) and try and either get a motor for a decent price i can still manage to fit in my budget or get one of the ones i have fixed for around the same price.

I'm selling off all the spare stuff i'm taking off the bike as well to help out with the finances a little as well. Right now it's kinda whoever i find the best deal from...

Sean i will probably give you a call, so will my buddy i'm sure. I should be headed back to my normal base in a day or so and i'll be able to call you over skype and ask you a few questions. Need to get some things sorted out. But my buddy Sam is the one that knows whats really going on lol. He's a good guy and has helped me out a ton already and just keeps on helping! It all depends I own a 99 Yamaha VMAX1200 bored out with nitrous which weighs in around 600lbs and makes 170HP / 220HP with nitrous and my scooter which makes around 12HP with the small 155CC engine and weighs around 220lbs. Motorcycle LB to HP= 2.7 lb to hp and the scooter 18.3 lb to hp so the motorcycle has almost 10X more the power.
There are days I enjoy riding the scooter and there are days I enjoy riding the VMAX for the power and speed rush.
Some days cruising at 60MPH is fun and there are days I like to go 160MPH

I don't remember anything about a bored engine.

Hmmmm...... :ummm:

Anyone know if there is any truth to this motor being bored over :confused2:??? I have all of his motors. But he never said anything about any of them being bored over any. Plus it appears that he was a chronic liar.

But seriously, if one of those motors is bored over i will fix it and use it.
