Why is it that they seem to all have this entitlement complex that their little group of 5 or 10 riders owns the entire F'in road. Just because you are wearing your favorite bicycle superstar jersey and spandex shorts does not mean that you are in the peloton of the Tour de France.

If you want to ride 2 or 3 abreast that is fine but at least have the common courtesy to drop to single file when motor vehicle traffic is approaching.

These spandex encased a-holes seem to be more prevalent this year than in years past. Isn't there something that we can spray or some form of trap to put out to minimize these roadway pests?

I'm not sure how it works in your state, but in KS and MO, they have EVERY RIGHT TO A FULL LANE OF TRAFFIC, except on the interstates.

So maybe they act that way because the law says they can? They are just people out enjoying the sport of their choice. I wouldn't do it, but hey.....

Try giving them a break - and I don't mean bones. :biglaugh:

i've actually been more annoyed when going for a run and have had been run off the sidewalk.

I think if they are going to occupy the full lane and are moving so slow compared to normal traffic they should have to run the slow moving triangle. On the some of the narrow and curvy roads they like to ride on they can be a menace to themselves giving a driver no place to go if they happen upon them in a corner with oncoming traffic.

As I have pointed out in other threads, this is yet another reason to carry a canister of bear spray. It's not just for bears anymore. The added capacity over a small OC spray can is perfect for a large pack of dangerous and inconsiderate bicyclists. To maximize your affect on multiple targets I would suggest driving past them and waiting at a busy intersection in the lanes to their right. When the group crosses the lanes in front of you give them the spray in a painting type motion. If the can goes dry and they get bold enough to come for you just carefully ease your vehicle into them and I can pretty much predict they will scatter like a gaggle of geese.:ten_out_of_ten:

I am a cyclist as well as a motorcyclist, we are all entitled to our opinion but the flagrant disregard for someone else?s safety is abhorring!!!
I hope you all are not serious and maybe I am off base.

There is a reason why cyclists ride like they do and it is out of necessity for their safety from ******** on the road.

You don?t own the road and they have as much right being there as you do.
Riding single file allows drivers to squeeze them off the road and into the shoulder where it is dangerous to ride. Drives will make a right hand turn in front of the bikes, this is the same as a driver making a left in front of us at a stop sign or coming out of a parking lot.

Put yourself in their situation, oh wait, you already are?.
YOU RIDE A TWO WHEELED VEHICLE

Riding side by side and brightly colored jerseys gives them the advantage of visibility?something we all know to well.

You guys know the laws of physics, the bigger vehicle wins and the attitudes displayed here are indicative of cagers who think they are better than those who ride.
It is shameful

Just because you don?t like the way we dress doesn?t give you the right to judge or advocate hurting them.

Share the road, I can guarantee none of you like it when bullied around by a truck or SUV.

lol just get out of the way. There are places with bicycle lanes for a reason. If you honestly think the people in this thread are being serious you need to calm down and read it again...bear spray lol come on man...

On top of having to worry about every cage driver cutting you off and running you off the road, pot holes, sand, oil slicks and taunts, we bicyclists have to put up with loose dogs and tossed objects like sodas, beer bottles and even the occasional spark plug tossed from speeding cars (usually trucks).

When riding together we constantly watch out for cars in our little-bitty shaking rear view mirrors but many times we just can't get over as fast as we'd like. You see, no one has invented twist grips for bicycles and the brakes suck.

When bike paths are built they are often overrun with joggers and folks walking their dogs - and look out for the leashes!.

Bike lanes are great where you can find them and, believe me, we use'em when we have'em.

Just be glad that we're not like some places in Europe that have set speed limits and timed the traffic lights to match the speed of bikes! :surprise: Yep, it's true.

When you think about the freedom of the road, wind in your face, and leaning into turns it's not just for motorcyclists.

As with all riders and drivers there are good, not so good, and just plain bad. Don't paint with too broad a brush. And please, no bear spray!

I respect bicyclists and realize their right to use the road. However, there's a difference between sharing the road and feeling they own it because they can block traffic, and it's not like you're going to run them over, right? Frequently in the Adirondacks, especially around Lake Placid, I run into big groups of bicyclists stretched across the entire lane, or most of it. They're going 20mph or less. Many adirondack roads are windy with few passing opportunities. They way they ride(hogging the whole damn lane) forces me to go into oncoming to pass. There's plenty of room for them to slide over and let the 30 cars piled up behind them pass. No, they diligently hog the road, since they know nobody is going to do anything about it.

I don't want to bully you, I want to drive faster. You just have to not feel that you, as an eco-smart planet hugger are more entitled to the road than the gas-guzzler SUV behind you.

I'll gladly share the road with bicycles. Share. Not surrender. I'm not going to drive 40 under the limit for half an hour and miss my first class because some dude refuses to slide over.

What pisses me off even more are when there are designated bicycle lanes or an empty sidewalk, and they still insist on holding things up in the traffic lane. Maybe I'll start riding the Vmax in the bicycle lane, that will save me so much time in traffic(actually, I have done this in particularly annoying traffic) When I ride a bike to town every so often, I ride on the sidewalk. If I come to somebody walking, I slide onto the shoulder, go around them, then back on the sidewalk. Why is that so hard? I'd think you would want to be as far away from traffic as possible, rather than deliberately intermingling with it. That earns a flip-off or horn blast from me. If I'm driving slow in my truck towing something, I stay to the right, and on a two lane road slide over whenever possible to let cars pass. Well, I never drive slow on the bike, so if someone rides my *** I just dust them. I don't feel special because I have a trailer and have to go slower and thus have the right to hold everybody else up.

I don't get hassled by cars when I'm on my bicycle, because I stay out of the damn road and don't suddenly swerve out of the shoulder into traffic because you saw a mouse turd and didn't want a flat, forcing me to swerve into oncoming. If there had been traffic, his *** would have "ford" imprinted into it, because I'm not going to wreck my truck/myself for some hardcore hippie's bad manners.

My bicycle has awesome brakes....dual hydraulic discs...I can endo it with one finger. It's a freeride/mountain so it's not geared as fast as a road bike, I geared it super low, top speed comes to around 25, which is pedalling as fast as possible in the highest of my 18 gears...third ring is a bash guard. It stops a lot faster than the Vmax.

i'm not sure i agree all bicyclists follow rules of the road either. saw one today blow thru a 4 way stop and almost cause 2 accidents. sure as hell would never do that on the max.

they just changed a law in iowa. saying we can't throw things at them.
I didn't even know we could.

and now there has to be a 5ft distance when you pass a bike.
so if you are in an suv. and a biker is hugging the line. you could be fined for passing to close.

I am not going to get into a pissing match with you guys

My dicks bigger than all of yours so I win :rofl_200:

I agree there are ******** in every sport

If it means their safety to keep from getting pushed into the shoulder or ran off the road then by all means take the whole freaking lane.

What really gets my goat is the oppression of one group by another.

Whether its whites over blacks, Christians over Jews, or what ever.

You all are not better than anyone, even Harley Riders :biglaugh: (ok maybe them)
