Back to bike talk....

Bikeshack -> opinions are fine. brining up 'drama' that no one knows about here is only furthering said 'drama'. state your opinions without dragging other forums into it. the vmf, as far as i know has never had a problem with starvmax so i would prefer to keep it that way.

The stock throttle bodies are limited to like 43% in 1st and 2nd gear a tad less restricted in 3rd by the factory, Thus a stock GenII always has the "GenII" bog off the line on the drag strip, nothing you can do about it. It was put there so lesser riders would not hurt themselves launching the bike. Tim Nash of Gurugear has hacked into the ecu (several years of work) he has optimized the opening rates and limits, changed timing, changed all the AFRS's raised the rpm limit to 10,500, eleminated the factory speed limit... etc... much more than I have listed... Anyway, makes the bike MUCH more powerful in the first three gears. I would say 25% in 1st and 2nd gear as the throttle bodies are optimally set at @ 65% + or -. And no, no dyno charts as the increase is in 1st 2nd and 3rd, dynos are typically done in 4th and 5th gear. On the street, it is an amazing difference, I will walk away (and have many times) from a stock GenII (and all sport bikes I have encountered as well) Not much will touch the modded GenII from 0-120 mph. See video below for a comparison on the strip...
Jay Gleason is a believer.....
This was the V1 flash, He is on the V2 which has been optimized even more... More Testing at the track by a professional rider is happening soon hopefully...

well in my 'Opinion' I love my 98 max and would love to also have '11. What is mine is mine and it is what it is period.
Place one hand in front of you and place the other behind you see what one fills up first. Or wish with one hand, **** in the other.

Got it! Tx for the clear explanation.

So the work is done in the ECU. Do you know if the racing ECU yamaha sells for the G2 has the same limitations?

yes, almost the same, no speed limit, but the bog is still there... Watch the video, it speaks for itself. The best money spent on the GENII thus far...

What I am saying ... is that the G2 VMax has flaws...

Cheers,
Amaury

Lol. OK, I didn't get it.

I disliked the G2 when it came out, but have changed my mind now.
I think it has a lot of the same criticism pointed at it that the G1 had, which I'm willing to overlook.

I don't like that style in general. I'm surprised they didn't go more streetfighter.

A 2009 is worth about $27k here which means it's just a fantasy for me, and whatever the Diavel costs is irrelevant.
According to Wiki, the Diavel is attracting an unusually high number of female, and ex v-rod riders. That's purely a style thing, and it's not my style! Give the same specs to a Paul Smart, and I'll look at it. :punk:

There we go again (StarVMax lackeys) ...

I really wish this inter forum pissing contest would STOP once and for all...

It is completely useless postings like this that gets me scratching my head EVERY single time.... but whatever...

Can we effin. DROP the forum thingy.... just talk bike... moving right along until another  decides to talk about what

referring to another forum as lackey's, talking about the pissing contest then telling ME to drop the forum stuff is a bit hypocritical. keep the posts civil & on track and all will be well.

Dude you're the one who dragged the nonsense into this forum. I reckon it'll stop as soon as you quit posting it. In all the time I've been a member I can count on two fingers the number of "forum thingy" threads posted by a member.

My Gen 2 runs 8:50 flat in the quarter. The secret is to run 50% Seafoam 50% AV gas. If the track won't allow you hook up bring the rear tire up to 75 PSI and retard the the timing by glueing the knock sensor to the clutch cover. She will lay down nicely off the line and gain big time up top.

What went wrong?

It wasn't one of these :clapping:

I'll take it. Don't bother wrapping it sir, I'll ride it now.
And I'll need one right knee slider to stop my leg getting sucked into the turbo. :rofl_200:

Seriously... I like it. It looks very neat. Sounds pretty good too. :biglaugh:

But seriously... should I run 75 PSI in the front too or just let it all out? :ummm:

+1 on knee slider to stop from getting sucked in. :rofl_200:

I love the Gen II, would love to have one, and have ridden 1/2 dozen different ones, the first ride when I discovered that you could spin the rear tire throttle only when rolling 40-50mph I fell in love with it..... the bike 'effin handles fantastic for it's weight, probably better than ANY bike in that weight class...
+1 Rusty

Ken offered to trade bikes with me on a Hill Country Rally, we were about to ride Tx Hwy 335 one of the Twisted Sisters. He took my modified 03 and i rode his 09. WOW what a great bike!!!! :eusa_dance: The power differance is turely unbelievable, and the weight is a none issue. I made a questionable down hill pass and the G force from hitting the base actually broke the rearview mirror loose, I looked up and there was a 45MPH curve sign ahead with a cliff as the only other option. My guess is was running about 125.:ummm: Man those 09 brakes work good!!!:punk: Got instantly slowed to about 80 and made the corner just like Danny Eslick. OK, he would have gone 90.

"We" have no problem dropping it, since we never picked it up in the first place. Can "you" drop the forum thingy?

Honestly, for all your ranting about the BS "over there", you seem to have walked into VMF with a big piece of toilet paper stuck to your shoe.

I've been here for over 2 years, and aside from an occasional rant about VMOA, have not heard of or been involved in any inter-forum "drama". I have never registered on SVMAX and have nothing against anyone there.

I have nothing against you, or star vmax. Just as an unbiased VMF member, you seem to be rather hypocritical. I'm hoping you can put whatever bad experiences have got you so riled up behind you and be another great VMF member...as anyone here will tell you, this is one of the friendliest and most useful communities on the web. Accusing other members of being "lackeys" is also not a great way to earn respect, and quite frankly makes you look like a douche. If you keep this pot-stirring up, you're going to wear out your welcome in a hurry.

Please don't take this as offensive, or an attack, or whatever. Just giving you a friendly suggestion to put the dirty laundry in the hamper and get on with things.

yes RA put it very nicely. thank you ryan.

I never tried that but it should be better than stock recommended tire pressures. I actually never ran mine at the track with air in the front tire. After we switched to running aircraft foam in the tires of "Skyshot" I have been converting all my vehicles to run it.
