Looking a the speedo cable, the entire wheel must be on backasswards....but how did it mate with the fork properly? And the speedo cable would be be turning backward?!?

Yes, forks are from a Triumph Daytona 900. I'm guessing it's Triumph wheel as well. There is some additional parts and machining to fit them.

Unless the gear ratios are identical, the speedo may be slightly out.
