rc cars out of the box go 80+ mph now.
we had a team losi mini slider we stuffed a 4 cell lipo battery into that we called the "big mac" cuz the damn battery was huge.
it was also fitted with a monster brushless motor and ecu, the drive train all stayed together in this car, but it would burn a set of tires every night, i mean it would literally burn all the rubber off and foam would be popping through. it wheelied at any speed past 1/4th throttle, giving it power was like tapping the trigger back over and over because it literally stood straight up or flipped backwards. we raced on a carpet track.
if you were behind it you could see the tires get thin and tall like a drag car. it drew quite the crowd...
i bet it wouldve gone 100+ mph easy but the car wouldnt be able to sustain tat speed for long because the tires would explode
100 mph for a 1/18th scale car is 1,800 MPH for a real car!!
if i ever get a job where im off weekends again ill get back into it and race a mod class.

10th testimonial is our old class showing the track. the year i raced there i was the best with a ferrari testarossa. i had a stage 1 motor upgrade because i could drive the car to its limits, literally fly around the track for an hour til the batteries died and never hit a wall! and i ran 20 rating hard tires up front and 10 soft in the back. i set the car up to never flip and chose the chassis that put the batteries as close to the ground as possible.
a lot of people would buy a car and drop the biggest and baddest motor they could afford into it and they couldnt control the cars. lol
after that venture ended, because we couldnt get money to fly to texas and race at their protrack, i went to the club level and raced around my area. i entered my bone stock team losi mini slider into the open class(run what you brung!) and won, by a hair! they were over the intercom screaming and foaming at the mouth at how close the race was, everyone quit what they were doing to watch the race. one turn id be ahead, next turn he would, vice versa, i still remember going down the last stretch to this day. i jumped off the racers stand like OH MY GAWWDDDD!!! YAAAAAA!!! people still bug me about when im gonna race again, i was like an overnight track hero or something. people were patting me on the back and cheering for me all night. we went to a pizza place after the racing was over and i couldnt even eat in there, people were talking to me nonstop. the best part is my whole family was there and saw me win too.
rc car racing gets to the point where the first person who messes up or takes a turn wrong loses, because it can take several laps to make up for one mistake. 1/10th scale touring cars has to be the most vicious racing there is.
we had RC dynos too lol, we got pretty geeky.
