Hello everyone,

I've used the search bar as one should when new to the forums and it's kinda pointed in left field to me personally. The basic question is; Is this the right place for the "baby v-max" crowd or are there better/more specific forums or websites that would be of use to me? First project bike and it seems I picked a lovely one but one that doesn't seem to come up as often as I feel it should on the inter webs. She looks and starts a little rough but I think she'll do just fine.

Thank youIMG_20200906_190125.jpg

This post/question would be better posted in new member introductions. My apologies, request if this thread could be deleted.

No-need in my opinion for a deletion, the post could go in another category than where you entered it. You should search for contact info for Sean Morley (an email: [email protected]), he has one of those he shoehorned an FZR 1000 engine into. Maybe 'fabrication, CNC, and projects.'

The Fazer and the Radian, and the FJ 600 were all 1980's mid-displacement bikes which had bang for the buck. The Kawasaki KZ 550 in its various guises was another popular bike, hard to find one of those which hasn't been used-up and suffering for a lack of maintenance. They also suffered crash-damage in the hands of young riders whose enthusiasm levels exceeded their riding skills. The Suzuki GS 550 was another of the same type. A bit later, and it was the Honda 600 Hurricane whose big brother the Hurricane 1000 was the first water-cooled literbike from Big Red (Honda).

Of course it is. Here's another "Baby Vmax" from this forum:

Getting one is on the to do list for the future.
You need to buy one (or both) of the project bikes! Cheap (relatively lol). Quite a bit of work on them already but plenty to go.

The one w/the R1 tailsection and the braced swingarm looks like it has good potential. Braking looks better, too.

It's also got the higher output Canadian 750 motor in it! It used to be our 1k conversion dragbike but the customer let the oil get low and shell out the engine. BOTH have early R1 front ends. Most of the rest of the parts are around here too.

Your Fazer is much more closely related to the XJ-series. Come on over to the XJ-world at:
www.xjbikes.com and sign up there. You’ll find a whole world of support, parts, etc.......
There’s actually a bunch of us that have Fazers.

@Parminio good call out. All the fazers are looking mighty fine in this thread I've got to admit. @one2dmax you've probably already figured it out but I've been the one emailing about the carb rebuild. I see why you set the price around the $400 now.

THIS is a fine set of Fazers we'd had some hand in lol. Plus some cleaned carbs we've done in the past too (disclaimer that not all will turn out this nicely!)

Here is some information regarding why and what type of motorcycle luggage should one use. Check out this article here.

I’m here on this forum cuz I have two vmax... an ‘84, and an ‘02. I don’t know a lot about them so I lurk here, and usually don’t sign in. I do read almost all of the email posts.

im on XJ because I have dozens of them, and numerous trophies. I DO know a lot about that platform. I also know the the Fazer Is closely related to the XJ series.

me that when someone got a Fazer and had questions about where to get info, the smart thing was to actually answer the question with where to get good info. If you disagree with that and prefer to just let people struggle with where to get info for a bike that is not a vmax, fine, but it think THAT’S bad form.

that’s what I did...... gave info.

personally, I don’t care if anyone from here goes there or not.... totally up to them, or you—

Whatever.... back to lurk mode
