Hey Danny, I dug up this thread from StarVmax that may help, if you haven't seen it yet.

Thanks Mike, I hadn't seen that one yet....there's some good options mentioned there too.

You know, making a hole in the MRA is beginning to sound viable to me....I like it's style and function and to be honest I haven't seen any better looking enough to justify the coin to change...except maybe the flyscreen like Mark has....that's pretty slick. :clapping:

You may try window tint, dark color. just i thought.

They can be had part tinted. I've got a Memphis Shades shield I put on in Fall. Not something I want on at over 100mph. It's a sail. But, it keeps the cold off ya. There are some huge ones out there that shield your hands too. If your going to be comfortable in the North East in late fall, it might be the way to go. I still think it makes my bike look like crap.

I've been running Memphis Shades for years, my favorite being the Classic ******....er, Deuce I meant, with the lower half dark tint. Not the greatest item for styling but fall, spring or just a desire to be comfortable while riding makes them worthwhile to me.

BTW, I have a Memphis Shades Classic Deuce listed in the For Sale section....take a look, make an offer. :biglaugh:

That's kinda what I was talking about... I'm on my way out the door will be on the vmax for 3 days.

Danny thanks again for all massages helping out me with the carbs, It's been race track winner in my bike class. And been safe to take long trips now that I have go understanding what to do every few hundred miles. I'm on my way to Farmville. VA home coming is Sunday be pull out around 11:00 am.

This forum is thee best I been apart of. I'm on few race car forum, but here there's more caring and the guy's they stick right buy you to help all the can.

Sometime I'm up late ready other older threat in here man the help is so cool.

I just like to say thanks to all that help me in the pass when I 1st bought my vmax.

I was reading some comments on it and I guess, other than looking a little cool, it does nothing for wind flow and noise.

Just got to figure something for that glare issue....thinking maybe stuffing a greasy old sweatshirt down where the glare is....that oughtta take care of it.....ey? :ummm: :biglaugh:

Just a suggestion but you could maybe experiment with some Duck tape or sticky backed plastic to cut the glare and find out what areas need to be covered. IF that works, I have some nice dark Carbon Fiber 3D wrap material that you could cut to shape and it will follow the contours of your shield nicely. I'd be happy to cut you a piece large enough for you to apply and trim to your specs and mail it out.
Just an idea.

Chris.

I was thinking about that very thing Chris....was just kidding about the greasy old sweatshirt! I'd at least use a clean one! :biglaugh:

I would think any dull faced adhesive material would do the trick, the plastic is hi-gloss and the glare is severe but something flat should work well to block on cut it down considerably.
Is the carbon fiber wrap flat faced.....thanks.

Yes it is Danny. The 3D effect is in the print. It has a peel off backing. Just spritz the shield with a water mist and apply. Squeegee out and use a hair dryer for any compound curves. It will actually wrap some pretty complex shapes and doesn't let much light pass through at all. Kinda like a strong pair of sunglasses.

The glare isn't from light coming in from the front, it's coming straight up from that angled headlight and bouncing off the back side of the shield. I'm really not sure any kind of film would do the job....I gotta think on this awhile.

I'll keep your offer in mind tho....thanks.

My neck gets sore if I cruise over 100 also....from my wife wringing it!!
rofl_200.gif
LOL that's funnny.....and yeah my wife does't know! It really is easy to do on this bike though if you've got the open road.

like that Mark, do you get any back glare from the headlight? I'm not able to do any long distance riding, one tank of fuel is about my limit so maybe the Boulevard is the way to go. The flyscreen on my '96 seems to do the job ok, bet this would too.

There is some glare but it never bothered me.....it gives kind of a "cockpit" effect. I got used to it after a while.

As far as riding distance, if your body is breaking down like mine is it's either one thing or another. I didn't like the stock bars because they put my wrists in a position that hurt after a short time. I switched to a really nice handle bar I got from Sean and my wrists feel great......but now my shoulders start to ache after a while. LOL

I have another Boulevard Shield I can send to you to try....I'm just not sure I have all the mounting hardware......I think the guy I bought it from forgot to send it. It' just a couple of spacers and longer bolts. It mounts to existing points on the bike. Let me take a look this weekend.

Ah jeez, I hear you on the structural failures! Knees one day, back the next.....neck and shoulders for a few days, then one day with no pain!! :clapping: That's the day I grab the chain saw and head to the woods....by suppertime I can't friggin' move! :rofl_200:

Anyhow, enough whining:tantrum:....I just a couple minutes ago bought a Boulevard off ebay so I'll get to find out first hand but thanks for the offer.

Great Thread

Say Danny,
I have been looking online for weeks, trying to find just the right one. No joy for the VMAX.

I like this one.
http://shop.nationalcycle.com/perl/cycle/N28213?

Of course, it's always the most expensive one. So, I have started an email inquiry with National Cycle. Currently, they don't make one for the VMAX, but they are trying to see if they can't make something work for me. The dimensions are similar to existing products.

Anyone ever see this specific windshield on a bike before?

Jack

Thanks Jack....don't think I've ever seen one like that before, but would think it would be easy enough to adapt to the VMax. Everything can be 'readjusted' to fir! :punk:

If they have one like that a bit shorter, then I think I would be really interested. (I'm a Hobbit, and I will be getting clip-ons, so I don't need big)

Just looked... might go with this one

That is for the Ducati Monster. I'm sure its forks are a larger diameter that the Max. You could use some type of bushing to make up the difference. The 93 and up Max is 43mm diameter. Should be able to find out the Monster diameter easily to see how much difference. May be too much to practically fit bushings since I think they have upside down forks.

Well, the deal is done! Every shield option costs $200 plus and has been cut or needs to be cut for the shift light so I pulled out the ol' Classic ****** that nobody wants to buy and did my own cutting.

I'd much prefer to go naked but with all the structural **** I got going on a shield is essential and I guess this one looks as good as any of the $200 - $250 options....and I know it will work well this will be the 5th or 6th bike I've had it on.

Guess it doesn't owe me anything....:punk:

Would like to see a pic from head on.

Hey Danny, the windshield looks ok, but the garbage bag style luggage bag in the back looks ??? :rofl_200:

Also would like to see a pic of the front of the bike
