No Carbtune reading on #2 carb

I need some advice, my 93vmax with 23k would not stay running without the choke on. It has been sitting for 3 months due to the S. Texas heat. I decided to do the "shotgun" procedure which I have successfully done many times. When I started the bike and let it warmup, I could not get a reading...

Nagging Compression Ratio ? From PSI Reading???

I've been asked what the Compression ratio is on my 89 Max. I searched the web for an answer to the question of PSI Reading on the cylinders vs actual compression ratio. Best answer I came up with is the compression reading divided by 14.7. Stock Vmax's have a 10.5:1 compression ratio. My 94...

    Interesting Reading on Compression Ratio

Ran across this today, thought it was pretty interesting.... Especially in how static CR isn't what you end up and how it also depends on the Cam etc as well, something I knew but never had explained this well...

Carb Sync - no reading at idle

I have the Carb sync pro and cannot get it to read a vacuum from any carb. I've installed the dampers exactly as noted in the instructions. When I blip the throttle it begins to read then drops down to zero again at idle. This seems like a fairly easy process but I must be missing something...

    Reading spark plugs

My understanding is that the last "ring" of the plug indicates the fuel mixture. By saying last ring I mean the last section of the male threaded part that the ground strap is connected to. Correct? Anyone have any specific info on how to "read" the plugs to make sure all is goo? I've...

    Tachometer reading high

I'm having a minor problem with the tachometer reading incorrectly on my 1988 V-Max with 56k on it. I just bought it this week so I don't know a ton about it yet. The tach reads about 1500 idling and about 7k going 70, so its obviously way off. I don't have a ton of time to work on the bike this...

    Correct oil pressure reading..

I just installed one of the oil pressure guages that connects to the threaded opening in the crankcase by the oil level window and was wondering what a normal reading is. it's a stock 2000 motor and I was surprised to see the reading vary so much with the engine rpm. I don't remember ever...

    Reading the plugs.

when I started racing some 25+ years ago, didn't see to many charts around. I had to rely on the expirence of older racers and family who was racing to read plugs properly. Not just the electrode, but the surrounding items as well. Here is a chart I came across while looking at some other...
