Gentlemen, the battery has landed !
Advice invaluable and a combination of suggestions did the trick.
Wire loops to battery terminals.
4 thin aluminium (aluminum for you colonials) strips between battery and holding box.
Few drops of oil applied between strips and battery.
Short wooden pole through 2 wire loops.
Apply upward force as required and EUREKA.
Retire for coffee and report SUCCESS. ***
Thanks again for the helpful advice.:clapping:

We "Colonials" (both the Union Jack-worshiping Canadians, and those horribly unfaithful, breakaway Yankees)....remain committed to the V-max cause. Glad the battery thing worked out for you. How about some updated pics of your hack rig?
*** thought for sure you would retire for a "spot o' tea"

Sometimes what holds it back is the vent tube on the right side. I always forget to disconnect that little bugger but it ends up being yanked off when i pull it out harder (so to speak).

I just changed my battery and decided to put a spare Velcro strap I had in the battery box. It's so the next time a have to pull the battery I just grab the strap and pull the battery out. Just like handles on a bag.
