Odd induction noises from airbox

I've just changed the stock air filter to a k and n and ever since I've been getting some odd induction noises from the airbox. One moment it sounds as it always has then it suddenly gets a lot louder for no reason at the same revs, then back to normal. Any ideas.

First....any codes? Second is everything with the airbox as it was before replacement? Sometimes the smallest things kick our butts.

Not touched anything else. Will get a code reader.

Have you checked the dimensions of the old against the new?

Yes it's a perfect match

Have you tried putting the old filter back in to see if that eliminates the noise?

Unfortunately that's been binned. It's very odd as it sounds normal one minute, then go loud and and boomy then back to normal.
