Hi mates,

sometimes i get "klang" noise when i shift from 2nd to 3rd gear.
Happens once in 20 gear changes and it does not matter if engine is hot or cold. Sounds and feels like gears are not synced.
When this happens, gear is changed but with "special effects" :)
I have 1997 Vmax.
Will this hurt my wallet?

Tnx.

Maybe needing clutch fluid change or master rebuild, or friction plates wearing. Oil chg does wonders for these bikes also. Some have issues with syn oil....what are you running?

Might ask Sean,I don't know if that's onset of second gear failures

Well now that you mention it. I had to change both cylinders because slave was leaking.
Spent 5 hours to get every bubble out of oil line.
Other gears are working perfectly (hot knife - butter :) )
I am using Motul mineral oil 3000 10W40. (http://www.motul.com/)
Can say that i ride vmax like a granny so do not know if there is some clutch slipping on fast accelerations.

oil guys use is rotella 15w40...but each their own. rotella is good oil and seems to help folks with shifting issues.....worth a try if you got oil chg due.

reverse bleeding helps get those bubbles out. you also rebuild the slave unit??
