    Vmax Battery replacement 101

Anybody tried the bigger battery box from exactrep? http://www.exactrep.com/acatalog/---V-max-20-amp-battery-box.---Exactrep-1995-6.html#SID=28 I think my battery's dead/dying and a bigger, 20A lead acid battery with the bigger box is still cheaper than a gel one (not bothered about weight)...

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

Discovered that the battery is probably toast. No juice again this morning, despite starting ok yesterday evening after bump starting in the morning. Bump started again, rode for about 40 minutes. Flat again after about 2 hours. Battery just not holding charge or something worse? Sent from my...

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

Went out to start the bike and was greeted with extremely slow turning over. Crap. Thankfully, it bump-started easily and has since started and run fine. Think I may have inadvertently put it into "park" 4 days ago. Rode in the dark to a family shindig and then back in a little fog. Damn you...

    Vmike has died

I find the "little differences"between the UK and US fascinating. Our "children's aspirin", the kind used for simple anticoagulation, is 75mg. We call Tylenol its "international standard" name, paracetamol, never acetaminophen, and I don't know if the Tylenol brand is even available here. There...

    stupid people and bikes

This is why I've never tried a burn out or a wheelie. I know I'd couch it up.. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD

Bike won't run without choke. Rough Idle

Nearly every petrol station in the UK is self-service. It freaks me out a little when somebody else pumps it for me. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD

    Low Temperature Switches - Examined

I've bought a manual switch (not fitted, yet). Nor because of the gauge reading high, but because of the amount of heat I was feeling on my legs when in traffic (on a hot day). My gauge isn't working, so I don't know the actual temp, and the switch is a cheap, neat, quick fix for the time being...

    Gas Mileage

I've not had the bike long and only fuelled twice that I've counted the volume and mileage, but they've been 44 and 46mpg. I use standard unleaded, 95 RON in the UK, I believe. I have no idea of my carb setup etc, but power seems to be good, v-boost was tested a few times between those fillups...

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

I just wanted visual confirmation the switch is on. They did them in a range of colours. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Illuminated-Round-Rocker-Switch-16A-BLUE-GREEN-RED-12V-LED-Light-/200851159760?var= Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

Tested that the fan actually works, with a direct connection to a 12V battery. Decided that in the short term, I'll just fit an override switch and ordered one, with built in LED for £1.69, shipped. Then, I can address getting the gauge and switch working at a later date. It's too hot to think...

Couple of hundred miles. But they had all been in bright sunshine and hadn't noticed if the oil light came on before. :-) ... Thanks, I'll look at that. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

Noticed the fan not coming on, and feeling the bike pretty warm under my legs. Temp gauge also not reading anything. Tested the gauge by grounding it, as per manual (works) and fan, with spare 12V battery (also works). Next step, test the sensors and wiring, I guess. The manual has guidance on...

    OEM Carbs? Post your setup

I don't know my carb setup, but my first two refills at around 80 mikes and just over 100, have yielded 44 and 46 mpg respectively. Mixture of some hard acceleration (with v-boost) and cruising at 80-85 Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
