If you have a A/F screw missing it's running lean on that cylinder which means it's idling fast. So it's working against the other cylinders when trying to slow down. Dave

I set my trip meter back to zero with every tank full & get right around 100 to 110 miles to a tank. When I get close to that I keep a eye on the light for me it works out well. Dave

Sorry I really don't see it being a problem. :ummm: Red light comes on, you switch to reserve a thumb away & you got 20 miles to get gas. Just think it could be old school with a petcock. You just run out of gas & you better be quick to get to that petcock to hit reserve. :bang head...

If those carbs were rebuilt right & never used they should be just fine. Dave

Blaxmax the side with the lock tabs is 74 ft lbs & the other side with the jam nut is 53 in lbs. Dave

Mike when you loosened it up & tried it it set the alinement then you tightened it & you were good to go. Over time that can happen from wear just loosen the bolts as you did give it a couple pulls tighten all fixed. :clapping: Dave

Eric the main reason you get rid of the rubber washer is because the bearings are suppose to get tighten to 10 inch pounds. :ummm: At that point you got the bearings so over tightened there acting like a steering damper. I agree 100% with what you said do everything the right way & there...

If I understand you right you stuck the dowel down the center of the muffler? If so there's nothing to hold it in there & if it tries to blow out from the back first it may ball up & plug the exhaust. Buy some pipe packing drill out the rivets at the end of the muffler pull the end cap off. If...
