I agree with above. Cells bubble a bit when charging. If they are bubbling over, thats usually a sign of death. Also bubbling under load (ie cranking or using a load tester) usually indicates dead batt too. Usually it will be one or two cells that are stuffed. Acid could have got too low...

Did it make the sound on the dyno? Coz that would be the time to ID exactly where the noise is coming from. Also, have you checked the airbox and intake boots aren't loose or broken anywhere? Really, we need a sound clip!
