I did change out the nuts for stainless and can you fabricate some sort of cover to keep the water out when I wash it.

This was my concern also. The stock plastic screw-on cap protects the internals from the elements and looks better. Some kind of cap would be great for looks and protection! Then the color would not make any difference. I can see the changing height from adjusting the preload would present a problem though. :confused2:
