How to replace Gen 2 spark plugs

I am not gonna give the steps to remove the body work from this bike. If you need assistance with that, I am sure someone has that listed here. I am starting the step by step process with all the body panels removed. First, disconnect your negative battery cable and set aside away from the...

Gen 2 --- Asking for tires recommendations

After I got back from seeing Mr. Morley with my seat, I needed to replace the tires on my bike. I actually found a set of OE Battleax's. I am rounding 5000 miles on these tires. This is the first tire that isn't exhibiting signs of abnormal wear on the front. I still have tread. I have an even...

    Site slow

In the backwoods I call home in the states, my pages are loading normally. I am using a laptop that has wifi access to the business I am at. I have noticed no unusual issues with my internet on any other site or any other computer.

V-Max Speed Wobble (ran it up to 115mph and...)

This bike has a story that would be much too long to tell. An abbreviated tale, this is my 100K bike. Earned an iron butt award on it. The lead cylinder timing chain guide broke causing the timing chain to roll causing a bent intake valve. Replaced the head but due to the time it was idle, the...

V-Max Speed Wobble (ran it up to 115mph and...)

That one is the last of the pack to get worked on. When I first moved to New Mexico, the first person I met owned that bike. Odometer broke at 50K but the bike kept going. The bike originally had a vetter system on it and whoever did the wiring in the past hacked the main harness to bits. So...

V-Max Speed Wobble (ran it up to 115mph and...)

Well...the 1981-1983 Virago frame was a stressed member frame much like the Gen 2 frame is today. The Virago frame also had a single monoshock much like the Gen 2. While the Virago lacked huge power, I think one could say without a doubt that the frame on a Virago is robust even for the era...

V-Max Speed Wobble (ran it up to 115mph and...)

Well....If everything has been replaced that can be replaced and the wobble is still there, then the one thing that is left is the one part that cannot be replaced without a ton of paperwork. The frame. There has to be a manufacturing defect in the frame or the frame is somehow damaged. Is...

V-Max Speed Wobble (ran it up to 115mph and...)

When I worked at a tire shop, we had an irate customer telling us that we did not rotate his tires properly. We of course did. His rationale for this complaint was, when he put his tires on, he had the valve stems all on the same way. Now they all point in different directions. Someone had to...

    2nd gen fork seals ,

You need to actually measure the fork oil level. Its not as simple as topping off. If you haven't already, download the service manual for your bike. Its free. Then, starting on page 4-68 ending on page 4-76 will give you the break down of the front suspension and how to properly measure the...

    2nd gen fork seals ,

With the weight of the bike, some oil will come out. You will need to thoroughly clean the oil and road test to determine if further action is needed.

    2nd gen fork seals ,

On my bike, the right fork had a leak. I did the business card trick and the leak stopped. For over 10,000 miles and a trip to Kansas with it, I did not notice a difference on mine. I cannot tell you how much mine leaked compared to yours though. If it hasnt been leaking that long, I would say...

    2nd gen fork seals ,

Did you try cleaning out the seal first? There are special cheap tools you can buy or you can use a business card. Sometimes its just a piece of dirt holding the lip back causing the leak. Lift up the dust seal first.

    Vmax shuts down

I presume no Check Engine Light either. I would pull any codes that might be stored. Give you a starting point. When the bike runs normally, what is the RPM at idle? When it begins acting up, what is the RPM? What year is your VMax? 2009? If that is the case, there was a TPS wire recall on it...

    Vmax shuts down

Does it restart? Does the bike have fuel? Is the kickstand dropping slightly due to a weak spring?

newspeed336 Chris Richter liar and thief !!

By county, yes, New York is red. But cities like Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany and the NYMA make up the majority of the population where the state is blue. 20 million(or so people in NY). Buffalo 275,000(ish) people. Albany 100,000(ish) people. Rochester 210,000(ish) people. Syracuse...

    Fork Seals

If you try the business card trick, you just might have some dirt in there and you can save some time and money. My Gen 2 gave me a weep. Business card trick cleaned out the dirt and I havent leaked a bit after that.

    Throttle lock clone

I have stock grips on my bikes. The Gen 2 fit very well with the stock grips. NOW.....I have to say....when I bought my Brake Aways, I went through a bit of a battle getting the unit for the Gen 1. Cause the original they had was no longer sold, there was a variant. I thought I saved the email...

    Throttle lock clone

I have the Brake Away throttle locks on both my Gen 1 and Gen 2. Both work well. Takes about 40-45 minutes to install and set up. I have pics of install of both somewhere here on the forum if you wanna check them out. The only down side to Brake Aways......$$$$. I paid $150 each.

Gen 2 --- Asking for tires recommendations

Everyone's opinions are different due to the experiences they have had. My experiences with Shinkos are bad therefore I will never speak highly of them. Dunlops were a stickier tire for me on my bike based on my experience. Someone else's experience will differ from mine and will never speak...

    ABS flashing....

Yes. The OEM is LED. What I think is happening is the ground. There is only 1 ground for the brake/tail/turns. That could be causing a voltage drop that sometimes affects the ABS module. Its the only thing that makes sense to me from a vehicle electrical standpoint. Its the testing though....no...
