    1st Gen V-Max 1985 Vmax

    Old beat up daily driver, looks rough but still the most fun of any of my bikes. It gets taken out more than the Hayabusa or the Valkyrie. Kosman rear wheel, radial tires, progressive front springs. Upgraded shift sector and rectifier. Kerker 4-2 exhaust and stage 7 carbs.

    +1 to Fire-medic's response about the tire height. When I changed to radials on my '85, I spent the first year trying to upshift into 5th when I was already there! Noticeable change in ratio with the shorter tire (even though it's on a larger wheel).

    Rebuild of the slave cylinder is pretty quick and easy, especially with it already removed. I think I paid around $10 for a generic kit on ebay and it solved my minor clutch engagement issues. Do you have a brake cylinder hone?

    Don't forget a set of JIS screwdrivers instead of Phillips, too. I'm pretty sure I read that tip on here, and I picked up a set on Amazon. BIG difference in the way the tip engages the screw.

    I know I paid several hundred for my OEM sissy bar backrest and luggage rack in separate ebay auctions. I don't like it nearly as much as the factory rear, but it helps preserve the domestic tranquility so it was well worth it. :)
