Hi all
Can anyone tell me the distance between mounting holes centers on a early vmax forks? The pre '90 40mm stanchion ones with double pot calipers. Thanks in advance.
PS - I think its 83mm but im not sure
Hey all, I have been reading as many threads as I can about upgrading the brakes. I have an 04, so the R1 doesn't really appeal to me. Also, I'm not fond of the blue or gold inserts on those. What I'm looking at is the 6 pots off an FZR or YZF bike. I know they're kinda hard to come by, but...
Anyone know of a L.E.D brake light that will replace the ugly stock one. Im looking for a light that will bolt in place of old one. It look like all that would need to be done is find the right size light with a 2 inch spread on the mounting bolts and splice the wiring. I found alot of L.E.D...
Here is an update on mounting Radial brakes on scooter.
Brakes came of a 2010 R1 that had 45 miles on it. Owner did an upgrade to stock brakes. I got them for $155 with shipping on Ebay and they were like new.
I have had a rapid prototype made of a bracket that I designed in Solid Edge CAD...
"The Trouble with Tribbles?"
No "the trouble with the rear brake!"
Posted in another thread under another topic was Miles Long's constructive criticism to place this topic where it belongs-here, in the brakes section.
If you read that thread, you saw I was having problems w/my rear brake...
Well, I've had the Max a whole two days, and I found out that the brake light is staying on all the time. Now I realize that I didn't check that when I bought it:bang head:
Being a long time motorcyclist, and knowing a few things about bikes, I checked the rear and front brake switches. The odd...
Not which brand, or sintered/non-sintered.....know I'll get another set of the "HH" pads. The front pads in there are starting to squeak with around 20k miles on them and many, many dusty wheel cleanings. I can see the inner pad on each side is gone and the outers are just a sliver.
Problem...
R6 rotors, busa calipers, home made adapters, FJR master cyl, ss lines.
I wish I would have done it years ago. It sure is nice to have brakes.
I wish I would have noticed that the maser cyl wasn't drilled and taped for a mirror BEFORE I got it all done, and I wish I had noticed that the guy I...

As you may know, I suffer from symptomus moronicus...
For the life of me, I cannot figure out why some brake pad manufacturers include a metallic screen-like flat piece that sort of clips on the back of the brake pad, so that the brake pots contact the surface of this screen...
Hello all, I have been a member for a bit but this is my first time to really ask a question so thank you in advance.
I have a 2007 vmax that i just noticed on a night ride last night that the brake light is not working at all. hand brake nor foot brake. I replaced bulbs, also put a tester...
I just need confirmation on a few things. My Vmax is a 2002 and the rear rotor measures out to 7.45mm at the thinnest area. That should still be in specs correct? I have new pads on it so I'm leaning towards one of the cylinders leaking pressure since I bled it and got a good pedal but when...
I had the rear brake stay bar off. The one that goes from the swingarm to the rear caliper bracket. Out of curiosity, how tight do you guys tighten those bolts to? I would imagine they are supposed to pivot pretty easily. Any ideas?

Does anyone know where to find a rebuild kit for the front resovior ? Is it the same as the clutch kit? I've been scoping eBay for one but don't think I've ever seen one. Any ideas? Thanks, Ed:ummm:
I have removed and cleaned front brake caliper pistons because of pads dragging a bit on rotors. I still have one caliper that drags more than I would like it to. I used brake fluid as lubricant to reinstall pistons, I am wandering if I use some silicone gel type lubricant on this one piston...
Planning to install a GSXR 750 rear wheel on my vmax here soon....Hopefully.
The wheel will be setup with a rotor adapter to run a Vmax rotor on the suzuki wheel.
I'm thinking that I would rather install a suzuki rotor, eliminate the adapter, and put a suzuki caliper and caliper bracket...
Recently I've installed a front end from 2005 zx10 on my 06 vmax. All I have left to do is put on the front brakes and that's where I need your help.
I was planning on using the original brake lines from the zx10 however, with the new triple tree they are too short. So I would like to know if...
I've looked over parts diagrams for variuos model VMaxs (including mine, 1985) and can't seem to find the part number for the rubber grommets that protect the brake lines from rubbing on the forks. Anyone know where I can get some of these? Mine have pretty much seen their better days. I did...
Just wanted to throw up a few pics of my finished Busa brake conversion. Front rotors and caliper install went well. The back one took a little extra work, but even then it wasn't all that bad. Actually it would have went a bit easier if I had looked at the pic Sean sent me (found it after I had...
Does anyone know the correct brake line lenght for the rear brake line if you are mounting Busa brake on the rear? The stock one I ordered (braided) looks to be at least 4" short. Ok, second question. Has anyone here mounted a Busa brake on the rear yet? I thought I read a thread somewheres on...
