Hi all put a new clutch in the max, now the clutch bites very late, going to replace the fluid as it's very old, the clutch doesn't seem to be slipping, do you think old fluid/air could cause this?
Im having a problem with my clutch. When the bike gets warm and I'm at a intersection in gear, the bike wants to creep forward. If im in neutral and shift into first, sometimes it will kill the motor. I flushed the clutch fluid and it helped a little but it's still doing it. The bike has 21,000...
Hey I just wanted to see if there was a starter clutch re-install guide. I think I pretty much have it all set on how to do it, but the little details would be helpful (orientation / direction of parts etc etc)
Does anyone have a link to some photos of how to reassemble it correctly? I want to...
Just changed my oil again, 3rd time in the last month- I'd been trying out different oils (rotella, mobile 1, and delo400) and have been dealing with a grinding starter clutch on and off... I noticed metallic shavings in the oil drain pan and was thinking it's probably caused by the starter...
I've seen all these threads on replacing the starter clutch, but when it comes to replacing the starter gear there isn't much information. Even the service manual just says to check for wear, but there are no specs on the amount of wear of the boss or the inside bushing. Does the damage have...
hello all, maybe someone can help, clutch lever losing pressure becomes hard to shift, already rebuilt master, replaced fluid, bled system, was working for a couple of months went to ride earlier back to no lever pressure, any ideas?????:bang head:
Hi all. I hope this isn't one of those questions that has been asked 10,000 times, but as a newish Vmax owner, I need a bit of advice. Basically, I need to replace my clutch master cylinder. I see references to the FJ items being a good upgrade, and I can buy one off a 2009 FJR 1300 for what...
During the winter I replaced the slave cylinder on my '88 V-max. Before, the slave cylinder was shot and was leaking to the point where it was draining all the fluid out. Put a brand new slave cylinder back in, now the clutch feels like it slips, however instead of a usual slip where the clutch...
Had posted earlier about needing help on my 1st clutch change and it really was easy, especially with all the help.. now after about 30 miles on it is still slipping, sometimes right when I start off or after its warm... slips in about every gear.. :ummm: been reading some posts but dont want...
OK.. feeling pretty beat up here so take it easy on ME.. took out my clutch using the Lvlhead into the clutch guide and for some reason I cant get the 1st plates back in so the wire fits.. yes I looked at the images and read and re-read... but seems that the gremlins struck and I cant get...
I changed my clutch discs during winter, now the bike has been sitting for a couple of weeks and I was looking for a oil leaks, it was a bit moist under the clutch cover but my clutch cover seems to be all cracked up?! My alternator cover was leaking last summer, I changed gaskets during winter...
Sorry guys but I want to be sure. Ive got a 1997 vmax that I need a opinion on.
I just bought the bike in December from a guy who had it out in a baby barn. It was stone cold and started good no noise.
I have it stored at my work place which is heated and every now and again I would start...
Hoping someone has a good "how to" article or even better a video on rebuilding the clutch slave. Bike is an 85. Ordered the rebuild kit today so it will be a week or better before I attempt this.. I've never done this before so the more simple instructions the better.
..from where the clutch lever pushes the rod into the M/C :damn angry: It's dripping on the bike and on my jeans and jacket as I ride along :bang head::bang head:
Is there a rebuild kit available cheaply and easily to fix this?
Or, does anyone have a M/C in good working order they'd be happy...
