A friend of mine has installed a brembo master cylinder on his vmax clutch system. It worked fine untill one day no pressure was on his lever. We did all the things we could do to bleed the system( gravity, syringe) as we were trying to find out what was the problem. We bumped into it. When we...
I am in the process of gathering the bits to do the R1 front brake upgrade on my '85, and I have braided lines, adapter brackets, blue spot calipers and an R1 master cylinder.
Today I needed to bleed my clutch (I have a tiny leak somewhere, as this needs doing about twice a year) , and totally...
From another forum:
Front Master Cylinder Ratio Chart
While attending Vintage Days West, and thoroughly enjoying it, I was reminded that many of the people I had occasion to talk to, lacked an understanding of the importance of master cylinder to wheel cylinder ratios. This critical ratio is...
I have a couple of heads with worn valve stems.
Maybe the guides are still okay and maybe not, I will have to check.
Other than the very expensive valves from Yamaha :teeth angry:, what are the options of rebuilding those heads ( oversize valves? automotive valves? SS valves?
Thank you
Hey guys, I need a front brake master cylinder repair kit for my 98 Max. I have tried everywhere and cannot source one for front brake. There are plenty available for the rear cylinder. If it isn't possible to get one what is my cheapest option for replacement or possible upgrade!

I've decided to pull the front head and have been reading the manual about it. The book says that I'll need to remove the exhaust studs if I leave the motor in the frame. Anyone ever done this? I have horrible images of a broken stud going through my mind. Any suggestions? Also, Mr. Morley, do...
1986 Vmax rebuild:
>Cleaned the cylinder bore with some 400 grit to try and get rid of wear/rubbing marks.. Assembled with a new K&L kit.. The piston is a little notchy when you move it in and out... Maybe I can use a dremel with a polish wheel to smooth it out?.. Was afraid to wet sand the...
I know bleeding has been covered a few times and I've read all I can find...
I have just replaced both master cylinders, brake & clutch with OEM's and replaced the lines with braided lines. Initially I couldn't get pressure in either lever. I eventually got the clutch working after starting...
a while back I thought I remember reading where some of you . Had info on a replacement lense for the brake and clutch masters. Please let me know where it is. I have never had any luck searching this sight for info. I have no idea why but I do. I will continue to search until I hear back...
Good morning, folks:
There's an electronic piece that screws onto the underside of the clutch master cylinder. The button/rod on it is compressed/ decompressed by the actions of the clutch lever.
First of all, what does it do? (I understand it's a safety feature involved in preventing...
I am going to be getting my cylinder bored out to fit stock venture pistons in my bike and was wondering if anyone knew what the piston to cylinder space was supposed to be. Found a shop that will bore and deck my case for $300 , not bad I think. They use a cool CNC machine to do most of their...
I changed the handle bar this weekend for a drag bar type.
Really better than the stock one IMO.
My pb is the right mirror which is loose now.
The stem doesn't stay in place.
I think the thread of the master cylinder is dying.
Any idea what I can do ? I thought of putting some blue...
My front brake M/C looks like crap (and its full of it too):
Clutch M/C looks the same. What I'd like to do is bead blast the outside casing and powder coat it. I'm wondering about the best way to clean it up in prep for coating. There is sludge buildup inside the reservoir. Can I flush...
I'll throw this in here for now,
I lost my right rear cylinder last week, I was riding 2 up and noticed it toward the end of the ride, it would fire at high RPM but not at idle-to 6-7k. It is getting spark looks good and shocked me good to, I threw an old known good plug and still no love...
Ok the master cylinder the most use is off the fjr1300 and some have used the R1
they are a 14mm
so is the smaller piston (14mm) used cause it is easier to pull/move the brake caliper but provide more force
so trying to find a fjr1300 m/c is a pain ( i want the mirror mount)
so i looked at...
So today I'm riding along, in town and a little highway, maybe 30-40mns altogether. I stop for lunch, get back on 1/2 hour later and ride on. It's really hot and sunny, and everything's fine. Then I stop for ice cream and the engine just dies off idle. :ummm:
After my ice cream I get back on...
Done a few searches, but can't find what I'm looking for, so I'll ask. What is the cylinder arrangement and firing order on the max. I think rear left is one, front left is two, rear right is three, and front right is four, is this correct? I still have no idea of firing order.:confused2:
