    Seized-Stripped Idle Mixture Screws!

Hi Everyone, The bike was idling like crap so I wanted to tune-up/clean the carbs. The holes for idle mixture screws were open so the caps must have been removed by the shop that the original owner had Stage 1 Jet Kit installed. I bought plastic plugs and covered them up but I guess it was too...

Pilot circuit mixture screw adjustments, tempurature relation...

Hey guys. I have been riding the VMax since March of this year, after buying the bike in January. Bike has run very well, starts great, excellent power. I have noticed some drivability issues in the pilot circuit that have become markedly worse as the temperatures have climbing above 90*...

    a/f mixture question

Just put the dj stage 1 finally got tuned pretty decent. Was checking the plugs all looked ok except for one had a lot of carbin so was wondering there all turned out 3 1 /2 turns do they all have to be the same or can you adjust them individual at different turns each.

    mixture adjustment screws frozen

well i guess i screwed the pooch..... I was going to do the shotgun cleaning on my carbs and all the mixture screws are frozen. with much PB Blaster and much more force I got 2 of the screws loose. But the other two screws started to chip. The edges of the slot in the screw head is...

    Fuel in a/f mixture hole

I just have some rubber boots shoved into the mixture screw holes to protect them from getting dirt in. I removed one and noticed fuel in the hole. Anyone seen this? Is it a concern? Thanks

    Idle mixture?

Ok this is probably a dumb question but does turning the idle mixture screws clockwise lean them or richen them? I know on a Holley clockwise leans them but I just wanted to make sure.

One carb not reacting to mixture changes

I adjusted the A/F mixture today since I was smelling gas coming from the exhaust, all were set to 3.5 turns so I did put everything back to 2.5 and will observe the plugs but the smell is almost gone and the bike seems smooth. During the changes, I noticed the right side (carb 3-4) is more...

Idle mixture screw hole is covered, how to get it out?

I have everything taken part on the carbs but I can't get the idle mixture screw out for the hole is covered. I know I could drill it out but would feel stupid if there was an easy way to get it out and not having to do that. I've attached a picture of what I'm talking about, how do I get that...

    Mixture screw threads

I'm having some trouble getting the mixture screws to properly seat in 2 of my carbs. One side will thread in a few turns and then gets difficult to turn, the other will not even catch. I took an LED flashlight and looked at them and it looks like the threads need to be cleaned up. Does anybody...

    Idle mixture screws

So I drilled out my brass plugs and instead of a screw it looks like I have a brass plug with a hole in the center of it. I know I didin't hit the screw with the drill bit because I was able to pull the plug out almost intack. Anyone seen this?

#2 mixture screw off from factory?

Well the dirty carb ***** finally bit me! Took the day off to go on a ride with the wife, and about 5 minutes into it, the bike develops a slight miss and pop at steady throttle. After about 10 minutes, it goes away and then comes back about 2 hours later. I took the advice here and let the...

    Idle Mixture Screw Question

All 4 have little springs that are rusty. Do I need to replace them or is it a no big deal? I just want to ride, no time to wait for springs, HEEEEELPP

    Idle mixture question

Just a general question...do the idle mixture screws (and their adjustment) have any effect on the carbs/bike at RPMs above idle? For example, that brief moment when throttling up from a decel before the engine assumes much load and the revs begin to increase?

    Need some help - Shotgun

Ok, so I'm working my way through shotgun'ing my carbs, I'm only to the point where I seat the mixture screws, then back them out. Here's my problem, I started with cylinder 4? (right side rear), seated the screw, noting the number of turns, then began to back it out. It came out about 2 turns...

Mikuni carb air/fuel mixture screw tap size?

One of the carbs on my 85 max has a screwed up air/fuel mixture tread in the carb. I measured the pitch and it is .5(really fine pitch), But I am not sure the size. I think it is 6mm. Anybody had this problem. I can only get the air fuel screw down about 2.5 turns, so I know the threads in the...

    New Cams & A/F mixture

Howdy Guys. Just installed a new set of cams. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience on what to expect for the A/F mix??? I know I need to take it to the dyno and get it dialed in, I am just wondering what to expect so I know how to tune for the new cams. Cheers

Need detailed instructions on carb mixture

Many of the threads reference jetting and O-rings and such. I just need flat out step by step instructions on how to set my carbs which are too rich. What direction is lean vs. rich. How many turns etc. 2007 Vmax 3000 miles

    Mixture Screw location

Would anyone (MOD?) have a picture of the mixture screw locations on my 07 Vmax? Thanks in advance,

    Replacement O-Ring for Mixture Screws

One of my rubber o-rings from the carb mixture scew assembly snapped on me. I am trying to order it from partforyamaha.com, but there are several o-rings listed and it looks like the only way I can get this particular one is by ordering the entire assembly (screw, spring, washer and o-ring)...

Is 5 Turns Out On Mixture Screws.......

....an excessive amount to you? I dunno but that seems to be the magic number for me. After a carb tear down and float level readjust (to 16mm on the nose!) and a 49-state needle swap this is where my '94 runs best at. All 4 carbs respond to screw turns and I get no hesitation or popping...
