I've never been a big fan of the "dummy" gauges that don't have any numbers on them. For whatever reason, they kind of annoy me. If you're going to bother with an actual gauge instead of an idiot light, might as well do it right and calibrate it rather than just slapping a "hot" and "cold" line...
