I have been up and down if I want to do a 1500 or go milder. It's not going to be cheap ($5-7K) to have a really fast Vmax. I have never driven or ridden the 1/4 mile so it will be a learning experiance for me. I'm thinking it would be better to ride the Vmax more with a milder build and have another bike as a track bike option, be it a Vmax or other.
My other option is a FZ1 with 50 k miles on it (needs a top end job as it's puffing blue smoke on hard acceleration) and I woud stretch it/ strap it to start with. I probably would use it as a limited rider/ mostly track bike. I may be wrong but I think it would be cheaper to make a FZ1 into a track bike that I could learn on. It would be easy to go back to stock if it's something I didn't end up liking.
I even have a track I can test for free at! It's an old Army Air base that's trianglular in shape with each leg a mile in length. It's only used by the big three to do their winter testing, so theirs nobody around in the summer.
