about the same bill. but i don't care. they're cheap and wicked sticky. now that i mount my own tires its even better. i'd rather pay a little more and stick the the road (second gear power wheelies on wet roads) then have a tire go 20% longer.
Now that is a sticky tire!!!

yea the verge held up pretty well.. i'd recommend it. i'll have a report on the advances by the end of this season too.

I found Michelin road 3 sport touring front 110/80zr-18 rear 160/60zr-18. Any thoughts on those?

I would look for a 180 on the rear
+1 should fit no issues. 170 to be extra safe. i know couple guys running the cazz wheels fit 180 in an otherwise stock setup but u never know about the offset.

i still vote shinko if u can find a radial 18" 110 or 100 front.

The 160 rear tire must be for some BMW models because almost everyone makes this tire.:eusa_dance: it is recommended for a 4.5" to 5" wheel. My first go around with radials I had a custom 5" wide 18" wheel made so i could run the 160 x 18 radial. The tire size was perfect but the rear wheel was very heavy and I wanted lighter wheels. The rear tire assemble was almost 55#s. The Carrizzeria wheels are only made in a 5.5" x 18 width which really limits matching tires to Metezler 880s radial, Avon storm front cobra rear, Bridgestone exedra and Dunlop Roadsmarts barely( 170 x18):bang head:. I like Avon tires so I bought the Carrs and sold my other wheels. This rear tire assembly is 25# lighter than my previous wheel assembly, the front wheel is about 8# lighter i think, it's been a few years since I did this. Huge difference!!! :punk:

I checked the Shinkos and they do not make a front tire in a 110 or 120 x18 size that would match the 180x 55 x 18 rear tire.

To continue a long story, I need tires and have pretty much decided to stay with the Avons, they have saved my ass to many times to mention. The confidence I have in the grip they provide is worth the extra dollars I pay for them. These roads in Arkansas are unbelieveable!!!:clapping:

Yes im running shinko 180 on the rear right now. I just really need a front radial tire. I thought they have to be the same diameter. Ill keep on looking and stick with 180 in the rear

I Donno what size my rim is but its a custom kosman

How is this stick with what I have on the rear which is shinko podium 170/70-18 which is 26" diameter and 81.8 in circumference. Then I for 2 for the front either agony road rider or pirelli sport demo 120/80-18 which are 25.8 diameter and 80.3 circumference. The problem might lie in the front tire. Its the size I need but its considered a rear tire on the website is that no good? Or can I run it. There close in diameter and I think that's what I need

Ooops I got 170 on rear not 180

Keep in mind your rim width is the governing factor when choosing a tire for your bike. The manufactures specs on tire sizes and wheel width recommendations are on their representative websites.

I can assume you have a 5" rim width because you are running a 170 tire , but I suspect you have a 5.5" rim width, because that is what Kosman builds. I have run the 170 roadsmart on my 5.5" rim and loved it, even though it is not recommended for the 5.5" rim it must be wide enough to work. Consequently, I ran a 160 storm, but the mounted tire had almost a flat profile because the rim is to wide. I never felt confident with this set up, it never slid out, but it never felt right either. Figure out what width rim you have, then start planning your tire purchase.

What ever you do, i would stick with a 110/80/18 front tire on your stock rim and a 170 or 180 /18 on the rear. If the 180 will fit into your swing arm go for it. I figure you need less than a 1/4" more room for the 180 than the 170. Perferably both tires should be from the same manufacture. My 2 cents.
Sorry for the run on!

they do make a 120/70-18 just can't be run on a stock size front rim.

I Donno what size my rim is but its a custom kosman

most are 5.5

Ok ill do the 110/80-18 on the front still lost on the diameter of the two tires affecting the Center of Gravity of the bike. Ill get the new front one when i order a new rear

i'd use discount tire's calculator to determine oe diameter then match the proportions to the new tires.

You can see multiple sizes at one time with this calculator

yea i used the calculator before.. Ok here we go. Theres gotta be a Center of gravity on a motorcycle for balancing porposes. Now my bike is not a stock rear end by ANY meens but i would still think you need to maintain the Center of Gravity (CG) for balancing and weight distrubution purposes. Now from what I gather and 85 stock vmax tire sizes are..

Front=110/90-18 which equals 25.8 in dia.
Rear=150/90-15 which equals 25.6 in dia.

Now with that said most of the weight is shifted aft because the front wheel is slightly larger than the rear wheel.

now what I have on my rear wheel and what im being told to put on the front is this..

Front=110/80-18 which is 24.9 in dia
Rear=170/60-18 which is 26 in dia

I may be getting way to technical here but with this set up the most of weight will be shifted toward the front of bike making CG shift forward which is way off from where the origally CG would be. Now im not an engineer by any meens. I just want to make sure this is safe. I thought would would want roughly the same EXACT diameter tires front and back like the factory to equal out the weight. Yea you can go tall in the back but then i would think you wanna go taller in the front to equal out. If im getting to complicated here tell me to shut the F*^$ up and put the radial 110/80-18 on its alot better :rofl_200:

I am going to run the Shinko 011 Verge front (120/70zr - 18) and Rear (200/50zr - 18) on the Carrozzeria's I'm getting from Sean. To add to that I am also going to be adding a 3" longer braced swing arm Sean is making up for me and he knows that I want to run a 200 tire as centered as possible. The only thing I'm worried about now is that my plate/ tailight is going to have enough clearance but I'm thinking I should be ok w/ 13" shocks and lower shock mounts moved forward.

I have a kosman 18x6 rim not a 5.5 i looked this morning before I came to work. With that said should i just go to a 200/50-18 they sell them in a shinko verge i think they would look sweet. I shouldve took some measurement and pictures of the rear end. Jon at PCW said the rear is a mad max set up to I would think being chain driven and having the 18x6 rim i could fit a 200 in there no problem
