This is my 2010 i bought it brand new , it is vinyl wrapped carbon fiber black and cherry matte chrome, since then I did cat delete and put Akra exhaust ,K&N air box mod installed power commander V , quickshifter from Shift Dynamics ,240 rear wheel, delete passenger seat ,tire pressure monitoring system, aftermarket mirrors, halos led’s fitted in scoops, removed rear fender with tidy tail and Highway pegs . Also fitted for long trips SHAD 23 side bags and top box with 15 litres auxiliary fuel tank which connects with the existing tankIMG_7161.JPGIMG_E9007.JPGIMG_E9008.JPGIMG_E4922.JPGIMG_6071.JPGIMG_8938.JPGIMG_E8575.JPG214373014_835051887427132_1068879376563464252_n.jpg

How do you like your rearsets? Ive been eyeing the Sato Racing version for a while now but just cant pull the trigger on it.

I absolutely love them it changes my riding position !! as you can see in the photo it moves my feet backwards and my knees fit under the scoops !View attachment 78116

Is the GP shift style possible with the rear sets? I'm so tired of missing 1st to 2nd shifts. It was bothersome with the 1st gen, but the GP shift style was possible on it. Really sucks doing a burnout and missing 2nd gear, very harsh on the trans. When snatching 2nd gear after revving to 7, 8 thousand rpm in neutral.

Oh thank Jesus. I did the peg lower mod on mine and I've done 15k miles on em. I want to do the rearsets so badly :) thanks for the confirmation bias I needed!

I use normal shift pattern first gear down and the rest up ! If I’m not mistaken GP pattern is the other way around when you rotating the shift spindle by 180 degrees and you have then first gear up and all the rest down to give you extra clearance on the track .

Great set of modifications.
What did you use for TPMS, where is the readout?
Do you have a video of the external tank connection? Taking it on and off.
Seems like the only thing missing is electronic cruise control..... 😉

This is my TPMS unit made by CAREUD with external cap sensors , now about the external fuel tank didn't had yet the opportunity to connect it to my bike yet , due is still winter here in Melbourne Australia and we are in lockdown ,but my friend who gave me the tank he used for couple years on he's bike and was very happy with this setup , hopefully soon we are out of lockdown and get ready for some rides i will make a video . The installation is very simple and requires just to connect the hose of the external tank to existing fuel tank air breather !!

I have a set of Shad hard bags here and unfortunately haven't had the time to design a solid mount to my Gen2.

What did you do for the bag mounts??

Hi Jerry i assume your bags are also three point lock system , i made the brackets to mount the bags by my self and they bolt where the sissy bar goes, two bolts on the top and the third point secures under the passenger foot peg .

Hi Jim.. I have to say you VMAX is a hell of a good looking machine.. You did a great job without going completely over the top!! Just beautiful..

Thanks for the pics.. I was thinking along a similar line.. They sent me a doesn't fit anything kit [aka Universal Mounting Kit].. I just haven't had the time to work on it. The Shad bags are nice...

Did you bend that pipe for the mount. If so how the hell did you do that??
I have been wanting to buy a cheap welder so this project is probably my excuse..

Hi Jerry
First i manipulate a copper pipe by hand to get the desired shape -length and make sure is perfect fit ,then i got steel pipe in the same length and size i blocked one end i filled and compacted the pipe with smooth sand ,blocked the end i inserted the sand ( that prevents the pipe to kink ) and then i placed on a bench vise with a help of a flame torch i got it hot red and was easy to work and do the desired shape .This was a easy way to form the pipe due i don't have a pipe bender ( i saw a YouTube video how to bend pipe by hand )

That is very interesting. Pipe can be a bitch to bend for sure.. There is conduit used for electrical work, that you can bend, but I don't think it is strong enough. I may try to use the Universal and then weld a bracket to that to reach the passenger peg.. That is the only place I could find also..

If you remember what kind of pipe [ or a specification, I see you are in Australia] you bought let me know..

Defiantly want to visit there one day..

BTW.. How are you guys dealing with this COVID thing??

Thanks

I bought the steel pipe from a local hardware store in the photos you can see the pipe size and thickness , overall the length of pipe is 545mm just over 21 inches cut it little longer and then you trimmed at the bottom to correct length
