I'd think it would be a lot easier to just get a MPH speedo and swap it in. Then you get the units you want and still have the kph numbers on the inside.

Changing the drive ratio would make the odometer kind of inaccurate, since the number would be some kilometers, some miles.

I am actually bidding on a MPH speedo on ebay at the mo, but the conversion method is cheaper. Not bothered about the odo really. Plus, changing the speedo would mean I'd have a totally different reading on it anyway.

Caution: Thread deteoration ahead!! :th_scared:

I gotta say, I'm amazed that nobody has pointed out what we all know to be FACT!! :surprise:

There were 180 mph speedo's on a select few '85's....the ones equipped with the 9 link carb chains instead of the oem 10! :punk:

can i use a half link in the carb chain to split the ratio ?:ummm:

As a matter of fact, you can use half links for ratio splitting....there are reports of some precision tuners even using quarter links....although this type of work is best performed by a laser link reducer as if is very difficult to get all (4) chains exactly the same length otherwise.

In my experience, going to an extra molecule of oxygen in the air composition being inhaled by the engine will 1) correct your speedometer error, 2) produce 17% greater horsepower, and 3) reduce noxious emissions to a greater extent than staying away from the Mexican food for awhile...:biglaugh:

ya, but the harmful side effects to the social health of riders with mod (insidous pompousicity being common) means very few 'friends' can be found to back up the fabulous claims of the owners...
