I think it's going to get interesting over at Yamaha. With the BMW's 1000rr based, 193hp - s1000s, the KTM 1290, and the new Kaw Z1000 to be debuted next month, all over 180hp and well under 500lbs weight (with the Beemer, they're talking 450lbs) and all the electrics but still a good chunk less expensive than the Gen II.

I wonder if the Yamaha engineers are at work to put their bike on a diet. Could there be a Gen III in 2015?

? I've never heard that saying before. I like it it hits like that article when the first gixxers came out, It was something like "...move over superbikes, introducing the hyperbikes"

For yamaha, the FZ1 would be the one getting a lifting eventually but not the vmax.
I think they will stay quiet since they just released the mt-09.

I'm liking the 9, sure it's a little down on the hp, but they're talking its wet weight is as much as the Kaw, KTM, BMW's dry.

Waiting to see the price tag of those. For sure it won't be as cost effective as the MT-09. That makes that tripple a very attractive bike.
