I could be wrong but I'd guess someone is in the process of buying a new Max and took offense to my estimations? :confused2:

No offense taken, just giving crap to those that say the Max won't be as quick as some of the current rides. For me it's not completely about how fast I can go from 0-60 or how fast I can run a 1/4 mile. That is part of it but wouldn't keep me from making a purchase if it didn't at least match a Busa or whatever. The Max's power and it's capabilities are awe inspiring but I'm also infatuated with it's looks. The whole package to me just makes me feel like I can't go wrong. Maybe cuz I'm a Vmax die hard - who knows!!

Dustin, I'm surprised to hear this. I hear a lot of guys saying that it's reliable?

Mark I heard that too. I'm just not experiencing it. Perhaps I got a bad one? Haha

To anybody reading my posts taking offense I'm not posting to do so. I'm just trying to reason why I don't think the bike is gonna run. The minute I do that the responses of reasonings why I'd buy the bike etc come about. That's great. I didn't buy my first Max just to go fast. I did however buy my Busa to do this, and on the cheap dollar per mph. I've said it in countless posts that I didn't buy my Max to go fast, I'm sure if you cared to look you'd find 'em. You can't compare the bike to the 'Busa, 14, or any other super bike, because it isn't. With that being said, the new one will be a bad ass cruiser, and the top of the class speed wise. Lets not get it twisted though, it's not a super bike, nor will it be one due to reasons in my prior posts.

1/4, statistically speaking, don't base your opinion from a sample size of one. If I had done that, I'd never own another Yamaha again. I was towed three times in less than two years, and that's over looking the Yankee wobble.

Just one of dem thangs.

fast, you don't have to justify your purchase to anyone here. The new Max is going to be a terrific bike. And, if the only way you're going to be happy is if it's the fastest ride on the street - you're screwed. Who knows, the day you take delivery it might be, but how long will that last? Will you still be happy if one of the other metrics one-ups you? I think you should be. As you said, it's the whole package that counts.

On the subject of reliability, if you buy a high performance bike used, there is always the possibility/probability of abuse and/or poor maintenance. Most bikes are pretty reliable now, even Harleys, if treated and maintained properly. A lot of the high perf bikes are bought by younger guys that usually haven't developed their mechanical skills. I know, when I was young, I made a lot of mistakes before getting proficient in maintenance and repair. It was a form of OJT at the expense of my early bikes.....

in a nutshell, the fastest never stayed the fastest. Look at the V65 Magna, the Turbo Gpz750, Vmax. If it comes out swinging, next year there will be a contender.

I was seriously thinking about the '09 max. put down some nosh + trade in on my '07. I can feel it now.

But, I got into looking at then falling in love with the euro customs of the gen I max. With the tuning and the squeeze, I make enough power already. I'm too big for heads up racing so I'm keeping mine and slowly altering it to one that only I have not one of the hundreds of cookie cutter crotch rockets that fly around up here. but something that stands out. everyone has thier own style, mine is a naked muscle cruiser, others hyperbikes.

:rofl_200: Yeah ok!!!!

I dont care what they say over in the UK!! Magazines will with Gadson on it will go 9.80's-9.90's @ 142
A good rider avg weight of 200 lbs. will see 10.20's on the new generation.
Done talking about the new VMAX its almost like politics alot of BS'ing going on. The BS will stop once the US magazines test ride it which should be very soon.

Its very VERY typical of UK magazines to run slower in the quarter mile for the same bike test than us magazines. If you ever do the comparison you will see this.

oh and your wrong about the BS.... it will never stop.... some guy goes 10 even on the new max with a sack of potash on his back and no licence and some one here will no doubt say "ya but it was tweeked and probably had DOT race tires.....and the vht was all over the strip you can see it in the photos....and and....i bet that guy had gas from a plate of wings which would make him faster..... REGULAR guys would run 12.5s"...

(Har!.... just bustin ya...no harm)

Go run the 10.8 that the 1st Gen Max is supposed to run stock. ;)

(Just havin' some fun)

What tests of the Gen II Max are you refering to? Shaft drive bikes by design don't launch well as they take the weight off the rear tire. They also rob more HP than chain drive bikes....

im refering to all the test drives by experianced riders who "have ridden every thing busas, zx14s etc and nothin leaves the line like the new vmax".. They claim that its easy to launch, thats all.. there have been many referenced on this site in the last couple of weeks.... the word is out that the bike accelerates harder than anything.... not my words thats what the pundits are saying.... (ya ya i know they are ayed to say that, they are on the take, yamaha knows where they live and will send the goons over, yamaha has picks of them in bed with a sheep, pig or kodiak bear etc etc)

I donno.... the G2 max has got a lot more power than the old and damn near twice the torque.... it weighs more, has a longer wheelbase and longer swingarm..... (im leaving out the electronic throttle control which obviously makes the launch more control-able)...

With all that why would it be hard to assume its a good launcher?

Skill level aside....you dont think someone has done that?
Are you sure?
Positive you wanna ask that?
And if i said ya...would you believe it or would i have to go run it again with you doing the timing?

haha....ive seen busas at the strip who couldnt get under 11 all day..... ALL FREAKIN day...
Drag racin REAL world results dont mean much unles you have an expert rider who is robot like in consistancy.... But i stand down dude.... i think by the end of next year this new max will be running very low 9s in the magazines with easy mods like, comp tweek, pipes, slick and clutch work..... i have nothing to base that on.... just a 200hp stock bike..... But i will go out on that limb cause i love the max and thats why im on this site....

Some of you guys are gettin' your undies a little overly twisted. Did it somehow reduce the enjoyment of your Gen 1 Max once it lost its "King of the street" title? I hope not Jeez, it's going to be a great bike...just enjoy it, and ride safe.

LOL, so true. There will always be an excuse from the competition as to how the Max got such good numbers - but it does go both ways. Ah well, what can you do...I'm just frustrated that it's been almost a month and I still don't have a delivery date!!:confused2:

0-0? Well, that's one way to do it. :biglaugh:

I never lost either, but when I'd pull up next to a liter sport bike, I'd just look over and say, "Nice bike!" :confused2:

Yaa, my undies got twisted once. So I took them off. Guess I should have waited till I left the club though. Cause the bouncers helped me vacate the premises.
I did find a few bucks tucked in my socks and shirt though.

Yeah, those folks that paid $$$ got the short end of the stick, though.

AND...the busa will always be the fastest bike ever! no matter what.....even though it needs a stretched swing arm to launch without wheeling....ha ha ha

naw i got nothin against other bikes....but sheesh some one at the vmax fan club has to defend the vmax no?

Everyone will think their ride is the fastest, most powerful, best looking king of the road on the planet. :biglaugh:

i will ante up that my fzr400 is NOT "the fastest, most powerful, best looking" bike...... there! what do i win?
