i guess it would be in your best interests to not have a memory lapse concerning international border crossings, and personal protection weapons!!

I wonder, just in case....maybe we should set up a co-ownership chain of title on your v max....you know, just in case!!! :confused2:

I realize the situation is illegal......

I just find the punishment a little excessive......

Drug smugglers don't get that kind of time on a first offence......

They sometimes tend to be 'over the top' at the border crossings....I was crossing at Trout River once, the Canadian guy asks, 'anything to declare.....' I say no.....he points into the back of my truck..."What's that!" I go, "What's What?" He's pointing to a piece of roof flashing that was rolling around in the bed, think it was 14" wide...maybe a foot long, no more! I say, 'It's roof flashing!" He goes..."Well, it's aluminum!!"

I couldn't believe it!! I tell him, "If I was going to smuggle aluminum into Canada I'd sure as hell do it in bigger quantities that THAT!!"

He looked like he wanted to put a bullet in my ear.......

They definitely hold all the high cards at those crossings, the 'presumption of innocense' does not apply! After all they are the first line of defense Canada has against the very worst kind of felon....The Aluminum Smuggler!! :2gunsfiring_v1:

the small-time aluminum smuggler. the one that spends 2x money on gas than the payout for the aluminum

I've been pulled over in routine stops before with handguns in the glove box, just a simple, "Officer, there's a .45 auto in the glove box, I have a CC permit, would you like to see it?", and there's no issue. In fact I don't remember having to even show the permit.

Same thing applies at the US/Can border....just tell them you have it, if they deny you access because of that, which they will, then you go back home...end of story!

Or wait till they find it then say something really intelligent like, "Gee, I forgot I had a loaded .45 auto in the console!" ....then you DON'T get to go home!
ya ignorance is bliss right, "sorry officer i forgot i had a loaded gun oh ya with 85 rounds with it!!!" its like pocket change right

Well, obviously it looks like we have to start an Aluminum Registry, like our Gun Registry, to keep a hold on the criminal element!!! :eat brains::lol_hitting:

THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!:biglaugh:

:rofl_200::rofl_200::rofl_200: My careless actions are no doubt responsible for the Canadian "Scrap Metal Price Crisis" of 1987, I'm a horrible person who should chloroformed!!! :th_smilie:

Oh.....the shame!!! :worthy:

Remember, I lived there for 6 years! Todo tiene precio la pregunta es cuanta quieres pagar cabron!

I've been living in Canada for 45 years and I know of police officers here that will accept "gifts". Everyone or everything having a price is a situation can be encountered anywhere. I am not justifying the practice but if law enforcement offcers in some poorer countries got compensated sufficiently for their efforts then such corruption may not be as widespread.

I am all for educating people on the safe use of firearms but some of Canada's gun laws SUCK.

I highly doubt the average copper here is going to give up there 85k a year to let someone off of a gun charge.

I'm not saying it will never happen - and of course there are bad apples everywhere you go - but bribes are not part of the justice system here. It's misleading to insinuate otherwise. In some countries - it's actually how they make ends meet - because they aren't paid enough for basic living standards.

Exactly. Right now is a terrible time in Mexico (as I'm sure in other countries)... the weeks that lead up to Christmas. They will pull you over for no reason other than to ask for a "gift". God it was trying.

Speaking of stupid laws, I heard that someone successfully fought the 50 km/hr over the speed limit "law". This is the second time a judge in Ontario ruled that this "law" violates a citizen's constitutional rights.

Yeah it's a poorly formed law.

Speeding falls under out highway traffic act, which is a provincial offense. Speeding is an absolute liability, meaning: if you are speeding, no matter the reason, you are guilty of the offense.

Here in Ontario we have a law that states if you are caught going over 50kmph over the posted speed limit - or racing, or whatever falls under "stunt" driving - your drivers licence is seized for 7 days - and your car is also impounded for 7 days. On the side of the road, before you have had a trial date.

While I support the law in it's effort to keep street racing - and excessive speeds (here in Toronto the speeds are insane sometimes) curbed - I can't really see how this legislation was even passed in the first place.

You should have a trial first - be found guilty - THEN suffer the consequences. That is how out justice system is supposed to work.

I suspect we will see the legislation changed to follow the normal procedure - that has been accepted by our courts sooner than later.

I cold get arrested for violating that law every time I ride my Max......:damn angry:

Trevor's right...most of us break the 50km/hr over law occasionally. What bothers me and some fellow riders is the stunt driving "law". When was the last time anyone read a headline like "motorcyclist performs burnout, causes death, mayhem"?
