My membership is good until sometime in 2017, I pay for 5 years at a time. I'm thinking of just changing to a lifetime memberships but will depend on finances when it comes up.
I'm also a member of Michigan Coalition for Responsible Gun Owners. http://mcrgo.org/

I don't currently own any guns.
I sold my handguns and even my shotgun when I moved back to NY a few years ago.
I just didn't want to deal with the strict gun laws here.
I could have easily kept them and never bothered registering them here but that would have been illegal and I'm not a criminal.
I do however believe in law abiding citizens having the right to bear arms in the US.

And what I suggest people do is what the 3 Americans and a Brit did on the train in Paris and what the passengers of flight 93 did to curb violent attacks, attack the attackers with any weapon that is at hand.

As for crime in Mexico, I'm don't believe I am misinformed.
All you need to do is read to see that violent crime is a regular occurrence in Mexico.

Yes, you are misinformed. But I have no time to play. I am going North of the border, to the dark side today. Maybe if I am lucky many people will be afraid to go north and the lines will be short.

I snagged the lifetime version 4 years ago when it was offered for $300 for a brief period to current members. It was at $500 sometime last month according to a mailer I received. I wouldn't pay the full $1000, patience pays off :punk:

Massachusetts gun laws hard at work. Maybe only the "yahoos" will have guns someday. They just don't seem to follow the letter of the law. Which is why gun laws are not working, nor ever going to work.

I know about MA. guns laws, remember. I also know I can buy a gun on the streets of New Bedford a whole lot faster than a legal purchase. I also know about buying a gun from the boston police with the numbers removed. All that points to is too many guns. As for the 2 amendment, all "Rights" have limitations.

After the last idiotic thread Dave started I decided not to participate any more. He is only posting to get us going, and logic or truth has no effect with him or his ilk.

Pro/anti gun aside for a second, even yoy guys must see there is something wrong when people can be bsnned from flying as a potential terror threat but can still legally get hold of guns.
Most rational people would agree this is wrong.
You want guns ?
Fine. But can we just do a background check on you first and make sure you not a nutter ?
Oh no...can't do that...it infringes my rights ???

One quick question. ...do you know if the people that performed the shooting....the whole basis of this thread bought their guns legally....or illegally?

Your assuming that the guns used in the shootings were bought legally....and that they didn't have to go thru background checks?

Sharky....you might not realize it....but here are back ground checks.

The National Instant Criminal Background Check System, or NICS, is all about saving lives and protecting people from harm—by not letting guns and explosives fall into the wrong hands. It also ensures the timely transfer of firearms to eligible gun buyers.

Mandated by the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act of 1993 and launched by the FBI on November 30, 1998, NICS is used by Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs) to instantly determine whether a prospective buyer is eligible to buy firearms or explosives. Before ringing up the sale, cashiers call in a check to the FBI or to other designated agencies to ensure that each customer does not have a criminal record or isn’t otherwise ineligible to make a purchase. More than 100 million such checks have been made in the last decade, leading to more than 700,000 denials.

NICS is located at the FBI’s Criminal Justice Information Services Division in Clarksburg, West Virginia. It provides full service to FFLs in 30 states, five U.S. territories, and the District of Columbia. Upon completion of the required Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Form 4473, FFLs contact the NICS Section via a toll-free telephone number or electronically on the Internet through the NICS E-Check System to request a background check with the descriptive information provided on the ATF Form 4473. NICS is customarily available 17 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays (except for Christmas). Please be advised that calls may be monitored and recorded for any authorized purpose.

Background checks are not required under Federal law for firearm transfers between private parties. There have been movements to require more background checks for firearm purchases, but no such laws have been passed at the Federal level. Some states, however, do require background checks for all firearm transfers, that are processed through a Federal Firearms License (FFL) holder.

I am confused when someone says there are too many guns. Or that it's too easy to buy guns legally.

If a law abiding citizen wants a gun to hunt, they'll typically buy it legally, no matter how many hoops they have to go through.

If someone wants to kill someone, why would they go through legal steps? Steps that can easily be used to trace who bought the gun?

So if there's an argument to be made about how easy it is to get a gun, the argument should be that it's too easy to get guns ILLEGALLY. But then, the word ILLEGAL has bad connotations. We're told not to use that word. I guess they're now "Undocumented Weapons". That sounds so much more PC, so naturally many lives will be saved.

Logic at it's finest!

Something else to consider...

Black Friday saw most federal gun background checks ever in a single day. Black Friday shoppers — put off by crowds, hitting the Internet, perhaps fearing terrorism — came out in fewer numbers this past weekend. Yet the lack of enthusiasm for standing in line in dark parking lots did not prevent a historic spike in firearm background checks on Nov. 27, when 185,345 were processed — a record.

Say what you like about this president......every-time he mentions gun violence....and what can be done to curb it....gun sales go up.

I understand that they were bought legally, therefore passed the background checks. Another gun law proven useless.

I had to wait 3 days and have a background check for every handgun I purchased (all when I lived in North Carolina).
Most states do require a background check for handguns.
I live in NY state now so I sold my guns before I moved back here from North Carolina because I didn't want to have to surrender them until NY state decided I was allowed to still own them, which I was told could take up to a year.

This also answers one of the questions.

Two guns recovered from San Bernardino shooting suspects were purchased legally, federal officials say

Just turned on the news. Good/bad gun owners aside, these terrorist were stock piling bombs as well as ammo. And there is a strong connection to Islam. No regulations on many high explosives though. The liberal witch hunt on gun owners is just that. They were so quick to point fingers.
