I used this custom bellypan up to a few years ago, whenever my bike was set up for touring. It has integrated turning vanes to direct cooling air upwards around the header pipes, a vented louver for rad.cooling, and is easily removable for filter changes. My purpose when constructing it was to streamline the bike, reduce noise, and possibly increase gas mileage. I have no idea if it did any, but I liked the look whenever it was on.
However, a few years ago I lowered the bike 4 cm. stem and stern, so I'm afraid that I might get some touching issues if I install it again.
Consequently, one of my upcoming winter projects will be to modify the bellypan, to make it look something like this one (nice bellypan!) If things turn out well, I will leave it in place all the time, touring mod or not. I DO like the looks of bellypans!
Cheers.
