Even at 4500 rpm (1500 before V-boost kicks in) she feels like she just wants to tear down the road at insane speeds. and highway cruise happens to be right around 5k on the tach around here. Heck, even as low as 4k, she wants to be a demon beast. The V-rod looks like it would be an excellent compromise, though I have heard that they are not the steadiest at speed.

As for straight pipes, that is something I do NOT want! As for not wearing a helmet, I don't wear one now normally!

That's obviously your choice not to wear a helmet . I trust you never regret it . Asphalt and concrete are not forgiving and cagers are protected and don't care a flip about you.
As for what you ride , again your choice of 2 wheels is huge. I don't care , whatever blows your dress up is fine with me. I like the Heritage if I were to go that way, as it has the bags for my junk and a big frame for comfort. :punk:

Going from a Vmax to HD, I would recommend you test ride the VROD first and then the Fatboy. I have owned three Harleys and still have my single cam 1999 Fatboy. (I'm sure the Terminator movie had something to do with choosing that model).

Rode on a Screaming Eagle edition of the VROD balls out and while it is fast - it felt like riding a bicycle to me, but I was used to the Fatboy.

Another choice for you might be one of the Buell models. I have been looking at the 2008/2009 1125R with a Rotax engine...

My back story for insight on my 2 cents above:

I've been riding Harleys for 35 years and when people ask me why I choose that manufacturer, I narrow it down to two basic reasons:
1. Easy to work on
2. Easier to get *****

Wanted a Harley since I was a kid as my father was a Police Escort Officer riding a 1965 Panhead back in the mid 60's. However, I ended up getting a new Kawaski LTD 1000 in 1981 for half the price of the AMF Harleys when I worked in a steel mill making good $$, but after too many tickets and a suspension of my license for a few months, I decided I needed something to slow me down. Kept the Kawasaki, saved a few paychecks and picked up a used 1981 FXWG Wide Glide. Tore it apart in my basement and rebuilt it during the winter. That lasted me until 1998 when I found a 1992 Fatboy which eventually was stolen. Replaced it with a 1999 Fatboy and have been on it until June of this year when I picked up my first Vmax - 1997 model.

Now I can switch between the "fast bike" or the "tractor".

Ok, did some more shopping around, and I think I have found the bike I need AND want! And it is not a Harley lol.
$6750 out-the-door price

Looks comfy. You realize the H-D jerks won't give you the time of day, but the cool ones will probably tell you, "good training to trade-up to a H-D!"

Thats a sharp looking ride there! And to answer a couple of questions, the .50 cents was getting caught by a local with my face buried, hadnt made it far enough to count for the whole dollar, lol.

Well it really looks great-I personally thought you were looking for something lighter.
Glad you found what you wanted and congrats.:clapping:
