+2 on the flyscreen! I will tell you right now, I am a big fat guy, and with all my leather on, I might as well be a parachute on it without a screen of some sort!

I clock 280# myself, I just can't commit the fashion suicide that is a Vmax windshield. I'm a victim :)

I still plan on using these blinkers although I will probably end up taking them completely apart and redoing them to make them look neater. In the mean time here is the first mock up I have come up with. I am not sure if I am gonna round off the coupler or not but I kinda like it the way it is.
So what do you think so far guys? I am gonna paint them flat black.

Hey DKW,
Can you tell if you can seat the leds further down in the housing?
That's the only negative thing I see about them. Wish the led was flush with the housing.

If flush with the housing there would be no visibility from the side. LED's are so directional you need them to stick out some. If you notice, all turn signal lens protrude some so they can be seen from the side.

No flush mount cause of visibility as cman stated.
The only reason I didn't mock up one with a round spacer is because I couldn't find or think of any materials to make one out of. The only way I could figure to do so would be to grind of one of the couplers I got down to round and that would require me to go to a friends that has the tools for that. The biggest limiter for me was being able to find the hollow all thread in 3/8 16. If I could have found longer pieces of the hollow all thread I could have used a real spacer or something instead of a coupler. All thread rod is common everywhere but not the hollow stuff in the right size in picth is not. I know I could order it online but didn't really want to. Ended up just getting some 1" bolts and drilling holes down the center of them to fit the other end of the coupler and bolt it to the bike. A $4 drill bit for stainless and about 15 mins a bolt and it was done.
One limiting factor for me is a basic 240 mechanics tool set, a dremel, and 18v cordless drill pretty much make up my tool set. I don't have the skills or tools to do more complicated peices. For the bolts I drilled them with my cordless drill and held the bolts with a pair of pliyers. Not the best setup but I made it work. It would work great if I had a drill press. A 2 or 3" bolt with a hole down the middle with a spacer and I would be set for a round stem,

Okay so I took one of the blinkers apart today. The lights are held in with just an o-ring. Kinda messed up the led alittle, it is still functional, just alittle uglier, I picked the ugliest one to pull apart for this test. Good news is when I put it back together I was able to make it line up perfectly so it looks okay now. I haven't started on the painting yet but I will get that done later this week and install diodes on the indicator light to solve the wireing problem with LEDs.

So after some more thinking I have come up with a way to go for the round look without having to grind the coupler. I am just gonna look for a round spacer with and ID big enough to slide over the coupler. They will be way too over built and strong at that point, but there really isn't a downside to that as far as I can tell.

Did you have to install any special relay's or resistors to make these work?

I plan on installing diods behind the dash light. I have read in another thread that works just fine and nothing else needs to be done, plus diods are really cheap. Unfortumatly I stopped working on the project because I had alot of other stuff to do and then got laid off. Although the blinkers should be cheap to finish at this point, they are just sitting on the work bench, don't really feel like working on the bike.

Okay so I finally felt like doing some more work on this little project that I had put aside. Finally figured out how I want to blinkers mounted. This one is kinda rough so I need to make up four clean ones and then paint them black. Debating on making the rear about an inch shorter then the front but haven't decided yet.

Definitely paint them black. I'm glad I decided on the Oberon directionals. Seems like a lot of work your having to go through.
But it looks like your getting the job done DK.
Looks good so far.

i like 'em CR.. def throw some pics up when done!

Got the blinkers today. So far I am not completely happy with them. The housing of the blinker is great but the LEDs are mounted in them very sloppy. If I can get them apart without breaking them I am gonna remount the lights inside the bases.
dkw0417 , ALL THE BULBS IN THE NEW ONES ARE TIGHT !...:confused2:

HEY dkw0417 , IF YOU GO TO THEIR WEB-SITE , THE NEW BULBS ARE ONLY $8.50 EA. & THEY ARE HELD IN WITH AN "O"RING . MY INSTRUCTIONS SAY THEY ARE ONE TIME USE ONLY , AND TO GRAB THEM WITH CHANNEL LOCKS , TURN & PULL THEM OUT & THEN INSTALL ( PUSH ) IN A NEW BULB ! MAN THESE ARE SWEEEEETTTTTTT !...:punk:

Yeah I emailed them and figured out all I really needed to do was push them in all the way. They look much better now. I still haven't finished the mounts for mine as it is just not a priority these days so they are just sitting on my work bench along with a few other projects. I will post pics whenever I do get to it. I did paint the mock up I made black just to see it and it looks great. Just have to decide to finish the project but other things are priority right now.

Finished product will look something like this. I will probably make the rear ones shorter but this is the general idea. Also haven't decided if I want to have flat black and anodized or if I am gonna go completely flat black.
