Bracing the frame behind the engine?

I some what agree that bracing the frame in the area in question probably isn't particularly beneficial.

On the other hand I have to completely disagree on frame braces most often used on the Vmax are anything but hugely benficial....putting them on my bike made a large and immediately noticeable improvement on an already "as good as it could be" bike...The only thing I'd rate more helpful than frame braces is solid mounts, a braced swingarm and frame braces in a total package, the swingarm being the most imporatant.

I was going to say that frame braces are waste of money while you can have 50$ solid mounts which eleminates all your frame flexing problems.
Im not saying frame brace are not working cuz of course they do.

As for the swingarm the most common bracing you can see on the market is unadequate. Adding the extra pipes on the downside of the swingarm is a way "you dont know what yar doing but it sure will help".
Meanwhile you can just replace the thiny perpendicular tube and reach your goal only by that.
I realized this myself after doing several useless braces...

interesting. when you've done this does it need to be moved, beefed up or both? what size(s) have you used?

I was planning on bracing my swingarm in the near future, but this sounds a lot easier/faster to do and if I'll get the same benefit... Anyway is this the tube you're talking about?

The end result is I threw a gusset on the lower drive shaft side of the frame, then ran out of welding wire. I took ot as a sign because I ran out exactly when I finished that one so i couldn't start another. So I painted it and dropped the motor in...no goin back now.

Other than fram braces and solid motor mounts you need to consider lowering your head bearing. I had a full chromoly front end which lowers my head bearing 2 inch and it made a world of difference. Look at pics of my 2 bikes. The one with NOS has the mod done and other has not been done YET.

You mean de-raking?

Lowering the head bearings(short necking) works only for shorter fork legs like USD conversion. I saw this mod comonly used with drag bikes where they need to lower the bike more then suspension allows.
