Bucket list bike for an old dude

Hi,I just picked up an 89 with 60k miles from a local shop. It of course needs tires so I will be asking for recommendations.
I have been riding since I was 17,and have had Yamaha, Honda, HD, Ducati,and some others. I had a CB750 sidecar rig.
Wanted a vmax since they first came out but could never afford/justify buying one until now.
Looking forward to the experience!

Welcome, lots of good info here. I am familiar with that area, where are you?

Is the bike currently operational? Or is it a bike someone brought in and abandoned when they found out how much it would cost to fix it?
