hey Garrett was re reading this and see where you and others tell me to adjust A/F screws but i guess i just wasnt getting it. Ill mess with that this weekend.

ON a side note if the washers im geting from radioshack are .020 then is one of those stage seven clip ribs .040 or .050? assuming you guys are adjusting in 1/2s' or 1/4s'? Just curious for tuning. I havent gotten the washers as ive been busy riding instead of wrenching and we having some oddly good weather here in Mo. But the a/f screws will be an easy check. no tearing it apart for an hour i could be riding .. or even drinkin'. Thanks again.

BIGMO...the Radio Shack washers are several different sizes in the same little bag. You need to mic them to find 4 that are identical cause they will vary .001" - .004". Also, they are stamped, not precision ground, and have a small shoulder on one side that will change your dimension if not removed. This is easily done by placing the washer on a sharp mill file and sliding it back & forth under your thumb.

It's a little bit of screwing around but you will end up with 4 washers that have less than .001" variation for under $2, as opposed to $40 for the precision ground ones.

i find a/f screws extremely difficult. i can't hear the chagnes worth **** until i brought it to the dyno shop that had the a/f meter and he helped me tune it in perfect. once he got it, it was perfect and ic ould hear it, but it could have been my lack of ability to hear it. supposedly u can also listen to the cylinder and find where it dies lean and rich and put it in the middle.

yea, the notches i woudl say are like .045ish apart and the washers are roughly half a notch. sean gave me some that work great with my jet kit and my radio shack washers didn't have the little nub danny was talkign about. err rather i found 4 that didn't, when i had 2 shims. i am not using them right now tho. i have tons of spares, and if u PM me your addy i'll send a few out if u want.

i agree danny, i found 4 that didnt' have the burr too! measured each individually and a couple were way the **** off.

you bet TV Max. Post me a messgae when you get around. You are about 2 1/2 hours from me. But Hell EVERYTHING is 2 hours from me.

Update on my adjustments. I unscrewed my AF screws from 2 1/2 turns out now they are 3 1/2 turns out. It really helped out alot. It still has a lean surge a bit, it was worse off than i thought cause once unscrewed the AF screws 3 1/2 turns out you could feel a definite difference in the pull when Vboost kicked in. How far out can you screw the AF screws. isnt it after 5 turns they fall out or something? I also got some washers from a good guy here. Thanks again man. will fine tune it with them.
I ahte trying to tune this bitch by ear or feel. if i can get to a dyno again ill make a couple runs and post em here to get some ideas. Thanks for all the help guys.

they don't fall out after 5 turns, but its considered normal to go up to the next jet after that. mine are from like 3 turns to 7 turns depending on the cylinder. i think its more like10-12 turns to get them to come out.

Isn't it more likely that after 5 turns, there won't be hardly any pressure on the spring and so the AF screw could just turn by itself from engine vibes?

I'd still really like to find a way to adjust mine properly without a dyno, since I can't get to one..

maybe? mine have stayed still tho and i put some of ur plugs in there! problemo solved
