Apparently the great statist Chavez has bit the dust. His long resume of totalitarian rule cast an entire country into destitution, his looting of the wealth created by private business made him a multi-billionaire at the expense of his subjects while he lived as royalty.
I am sure you are mourning deeply Dave.:rip:

I don't know Hugo Chavez, never been to Venezuela, I really don't give a ****. It seems you only know what has been put in the American press. Your inquiring mind didn't inquire either. But since he was labeled as a socialist or a communist he simply had to be a bad guy. According to you, that is. You like to use labels to marginalize people who you disagree with. Like I said I don't know very much about Chavez but unlike your world that is only black and white, Chavez is much more than a label. Venezuela under Chavez gave free education to it's citizens from daycare to University.
5th in the world in % of unversity students
5th happiest population in the world.
reduced poverty by 44%
Reduced food imports by 60%
cut infant mortality in half
had a program of free or reduced fuel to the needy in the USA.

If only the politicians in the US of A were as bad.

Unlike you I am not afraid to state my name. ForestdaleDave, who happens at this particular time and space be living in Mexico. How is the weather there? No snow here. Pretty damn nice hanging out by the pool and enjoying my retirement here. But don't you consider visiting, too much crime and violence.

Gosh Dave....wouldn't Venezula have been the place for you to 'escape' to? :confused2:

All I remember about Chavez is the video footage of him standing in front of his masses and decrying DEATH to all Americans. That's all I really needed to know about him. I continue to buy my fuel from any place other than CITGO.

The guys dead , let him rot in peace...as far as I can tell he doesn't directly effect anyone here in the forum...:confused2:

...Unless he invented a fix for the Max's head shake problem...:worthy:

There it is, Dave openly suporting the statist Chavez and repeating lies about the "utopia" he created.

http://news.investors.com/ibd-editorials/082510-545008-the-killing-fields-of-caracas.htm?p=full

Aside from a 40% unemployment rate, and Chevez openly welcoming the FARC terrorist drug criminal army to operate inside his country, he seized private businesses to build his multi billion dollar fortune.

By contrast, the murder rate in cartel-haunted Juarez, Mexico, is 133 per 100,000, with Mexico's overall rate 8 per 100,000, about the same as Wichita, Kan. Colombia, fighting a narcoterror war since 1964, has an overall rate of 37 per 100,000, slightly higher than Baltimore at 36.9. The overall U.S. rate is 5.4.

Ever since Chavez became president in 1999, Venezuelan cities have become hellholes in which murder rates have more than quadrupled. At 233 per 100,000, or one murder every 90 minutes, the rate in Caracas now tops that of every war zone in the world, according to an official National Statistics Institute study released Wednesday.

Long live Socialism Dave!!

So are you saying he is NOT a socialist Dave???

The most accurate statement you have ever made Dave

but unlike your world that is only black and white, Chavez is much more than a label. Venezuela under Chavez gave free education to it's citizens from daycare to University.

At the expense of their freedom Dave, I realize you can't comprehend it but it wasn't FREE.

As far as my name Dave, Just call me Dude, or El Dudereno in celebration of your new Mexican persona.
Oh, And weather is great. Snow mobiling, skiing, and a distinct lack of sympathy for communism.

If Mexico is so nice why are they dying to get into the US. Literally dying to get here. :bang head: It can't be that bad. When the snow melts here in Massachusetts where you left from. I won't have to worry about getting kidnapped or murdered riding my Vmax. You couldn't pay me enough money to even vacation in Mexico. Our government is even telling Americans not to travel there. Just make sure you go inside before the street lights go on. Lmao :rofl_200:
But if you like it so much enjoy yourself and stop talking bad about America. And keep your eye open usually people go there to hide from something. Watch America's most wanted you might get a reward someday.

Actually Mark, the fact is right now there is a net loss of illegal immigration from mexico to the U.S. Meaning more illegals are leaving the U.S. than are trying to get in. There are travel warnings for certain parts of Mexico. I wouldn't drive my bike or car say like in bridgeport,CT. at night either. Or Brockton,MA. Also I'm not talking bad about the U.S. other than it is too cold for my liking. There is this myth about violence in mexico and all I'm saying it is not true. Driving around here at night the worry is running into a wandering cow or horse. Or having some drunk run into me. I really don't have a ax to grind about it. In two years here I haven't even heard anyone arguing. That has been my experience.

Let me educate you DAVE. Chavez seized control of the press in his country, refused to renew "liscenses" of those that published the truth against him, and enacted laws that imposed prison sentences for those that spoke out against him. Due to the extreme violence in Venezuela's prisons, that was a de facto death sentence. Censorship and control of the media guaranteed nobody wanted to speak about the reality of his DICTATORSHIP. It also guaranteed the uneducated poor masses didn't hear the reality of what the good Dictator was doing to them.
His nationalization of the food supply and control of its distribution resulted in thousands of tons of food rotting in containers, food shortages, and starvation of the poor that he conveniently blamed George Bush for. The ill informed peasants believed it.
His classic marxist tactics enslaved a nation.

Where you graduate as a doctor in three years

5th happiest population in the world.

According to who, Chavez???// LOL!!

reduced poverty by 44%
Reduced food imports by 60%

And destroyed the infrastructure to feed the nation.

cut infant mortality in half

Again, according to who? Where did they get the numbers? from Chavez's socialist marxist controlled press?

had a program of free or reduced fuel to the needy in the USA.

We already know you would embrace dictatorship Dave

The serial killer John Gacy did many "good deeds" like dressing up as a clown and entertaining childeren. Unfortunately he also lured over 40 young men into being bound, raped, tortured, murdered, and then buried. By your standards he was a great guy!!!
And hey, he strangled his victims instead of using a semi automatic firearm, so to you it never happened.

There's a net reverse immigration right now for the simple fact that;

1. Illegals are being made to feel much more unwelcome. Specific state laws are making it much more difficult to find jobs. It's WORKING!

2. Unemployment numbers are up meaning honest citizens are cutting into the illegals typical arena of employment.

3. Construction jobs are down also minimizes opportunities.

It's got nothing to do with the desirability of either nation as a "place to live" it's based on the ability to make a buck. To say otherwise is completely disingenuous.
When is the last time you heard of a BROKE American going to work or retiring to Mexico???

Some states particular current policies are working...it's just not enough though. It should be a federal effort and the states shouldn't have to be doing the Feds job.
By " working" mean the cockroaches food supply is being taken away and they're disappearing.... Yeah., that sounds brutal but the analogy holds, you can put up barriers, throw down all the chemicals you want but until you remove the INCENTIVE...FOOD.....they will not give up....once the food is removed they will slowly but surely go away because the reward is no longer there.

The whole stupid ass idea that illegals are doing jobs Americans won't do is based on the fact that scumbag employers hire them off the books, pay them no benefits or taxes withdrawn, and rape honest companies out of the market that do things by the book and pay SDI, SSI, etc. , along income tax withholding.

The whole thing is based on a false economy whereby labor gets done on the cheap, the consumer gets cheap goods or services, and we say no one else would do the job. It's ******* ******** because if we had the laws we ought to have an employer that knowingly hires illegals (Or better yet fails to utilize E-Verify) should face criminal charges, not civil fines.

Wage rates would go up, prices would go up, and once again instead of being a false economy it would be an honest economy. Prices would be back to fair market.
Do we really need cheap car washes and lawn maintenance that ******* bad??

The fact that penalties for hiring illegals is minor at worst means that one or two bad actors undercuts the whole segment they participate in and incentivized the entire segment to go that way and hire illegals or else fail to compete and go under.

When's the last time you saw a roofer, drywall guy, painter, maid, scaffold builder or framer that was a citizen or could speak a lick if English???

It's ******** the whole argument that Americans won't do it, its based on a few cheaters ruining the whole industry.

And if you have illegals mowing your yard or cleaning your house you're just as guilty.

The one thing all the emigrants had in common that passed through Ellis Island back at the turn of the century was. They all wanted to be Americans, assimilate & learn English. That is not the case here. The new imigrants don't care about about any of these things & could care less about being Amercians. They just have anchor babys so they can stay here, work and collect wellfair. I live next to the ocean in So Cal. The border patrol "LA MIGRA" is catching them landing in small boats all up & down are southern California beaches at night, RIGHT NOW!! It's happening all the time. They should be called what they really are, ILLEGAL ALIENS  http://carlsbad.patch.com/articles/illegal-immigrant-smuggling-boat-lands-in-carlsbad http://carlsbad.patch.com/articles/...illegal-immigrants-and-panga-boat-in-carlsbad

The Ellis Island immigrants had one thing this new breed of illegal alien doesn't have Rusty....a good work ethic!! They WANTED to become Americans and be productive.....:punk:

They didn't have a free ride either! My ancestors faced signs like "Irish & dogs keep off the grass"! No problem there....they just became cops....started pushing back! None of this free ride ********....they had a strong work ethic and a ton of PRIDE!! Both are sadly missing in this current society!

Rosarito Dave,

Interesting video, thanks. I believe the so called "free trade" has made millionaires into billionaires along with the poor and middle class shrinking due to 57,000 manufacturing plants closed since 2002 and 7 million manufacturing jobs gone,(to other low wage countries). Yesterday in Flint Michigan GM announced 100 workers will lose their jobs at a engine plant because that production is being moved to S. Korea due to the new trade agreement Obama wanted. (Remember, that company we bailed out?)

Again a total sellout of the populace of the U.S. by the political ruling class of the U.S. at the behest of Corporate America.

One more reason to be armed, what do the Blacks always say in their demonstrations, "no justice, no peace"???,,or something like that.

O

I wanted to share this YouTube video and didn't want to start a new thread and decided here was as good a place as any. It could be depressing but gives an insight into the U.S. wealth. Food for thought.

to me, this is a class warfare video. I'm not saying it's not factual, but this issue is so much bigger than money distibution. This isn't kindergarten where everybody gets a cookie, just for showing up. Chaves did this, except he didn't give out cookies, he gave out gruel, and became a multi billionaire in the process. people make there own choices and decide the effort they want to put in. It seems that people think money falls from the sky into these catergories. Lets see an effort chart. Lets see a chart on how many had $100,000 + college loans and worked 12 to 14 hrs a day for years. Lets see a chart on who pays what taxes. lets see a chart on the comfortably poor, that have been on assistance for generations. Lets see a chart on people that have built business from nothing, work like dogs, and are now in that one percent. lets see a chart on who's 401 K's/ retirements are invested in greedy companies. There is certainly abuse and greed, but in my opinion the large majority worked or didn't work to get where they are. I just hate seeing it implied that all with money somehow stole it or fell into it, or don't deserve it. I have no problem thanking my 1% boss for making the decision to run a construction company and giving me a job. I've seen his daily schedules and wouldn't want any part of it. I don't see people in todays society asking, what do I need to do to be wealthy. I see them with there hands out:bang head:
