I apologize if this has been covered already.

I've found a few posts about leaks at the thermostat cover but not at this elbow at the base of the thermostat housing.

Doesn't seem to leak while running. It only started leaking while sitting in the garage after the temperature started to drop. Just a couple drops, but enough to put a shop towel down to collect it.

I'll be removing the exhaust in short order, so I should have easy access.

Is this a common issue and/or easy fix? I couldn't find an exploded view of this housing-elbow union in the service manual nor Partzilla.

It's fairly common on older bikes. The o-rings become hard and brittle. You'll need part #30.

You shouldn't need to remove the headers. Just the one inboard thermostat bolt shown in your picture (with the bracket) and pull the pipe out of the thermostat cover.
