Don't get me wrong it's an interesting topic, but so far all I've heard is talk. No pictures, no videos, no documentation, and some almost comically outrageous damage claims. You might as well get on a Jeep forum and tell them you made it through the Rubicon trail in a Geo Metro by using snow tires.

All we're asking for is a few pictures. I fail to see how a picture of an essentially wrecked bike is going to give away any "secrets", especially when you claim to be doing this with a stock bike. If it's really stock, what secrets are there to hide?

And the Harley jump was hardly with a stock bike. Looks almost like an old dual-shock dirt bike frame with a V-twin shoved in it.

I looked and looked. it just doesn't show up. A nice 183.398' harley jump showed up as the farthest harley, but no world record for the Vmax.

Sooo, out of curiosity, just what is the current record? :confused2:

Think Lankee holds that (unofficially). Didn't he measure out 95' when he went flying off a corner somewhere out in the Tennessee weeds?

Why is everyone jumping on 85maxfan and Rockastansky? You don't seriously think that these guys can post photos of their potential record breaking machine on the Word Wide Web do you? The competition is lurking out there, waiting for the chance to grab any morsel of information they possibly can to upgrade their own record breaking machine and steal their thunder! What the heck are you guys even thinking? That like asking the military to post up photos of their top secret facilities on talibanforum.net. You don't want this kind of information getting into the wrong hands.

My $.02 - don't use air in the tires - use pure helium. It will assist the horizontal stabilization, plus it will help the bike stay airborne a fraction of a second longer, which will translate into a few extra feet of jump length. Every foot will help! An added benefit will be that in the case of a blow-out upon landing, helium is an inert gas & will not add to the flammability of any already ignited parts. If you are running air in the tires, the oxygen in the air could cause a simple peg scrape to turn into a raging inferno. Just sayin...

I completely agree with you on this Mike!! There's a whole nother aspect of this that needs mentioning....these guys are from what state?....Right, the same state as that goofy president is from....and he looks plenty bad enough already without a couple motorcycle jumping maniacs up-staging him! Think about it.....Obama's from IL., '85 & Rocko are from IL., has Obama pledged any support for these hard working guys? Has he offered any encouragement? Does he even know these guys exist? NO, he doesn't!! Does he care? Again NO!! Is it a good idea to publish this upcoming event? Absolutely NOT, any bush league conspiracy theorist can explain why that is!!
I say let 'em jump in peace, they're going about everything in a logical and responsible manner....if only Rocko can stay out of the slammer!!

I do have one favor to ask Mister Rockatansky tho, if it isn't too much trouble. As you prolly know, I have done extensive research on the 'V Max Wobble,' pretty much without any concrete results. It would help a great deal if you could tell me.....does the V Max still wobble when it's 30' - 40' off the ground?

If you could please check that out for me while you're in the air I would be grateful! :worthy:

Many thanks in advance!

Nah, it's Jon. Someone tell me if and when he gets over this B.S. and posts any kind of pic related to the subject. Until then you can hang out here in fantasy land. Maybe he needs some carb chains or muffler bearings. Why not go get 100' of flight line - that will surely help lol.

Well, you are absoloutly correct with your analysis of the Obama team not pledging any support for our brave endevor. They were not available for comment and refused to return our calls. I am not sure if the bush team would have either for that matter. BTW, we have encountered some GSA types creaping around trying to get details on our next move. We had though originally that it was a prelim to the coming weapons confiscations in Obamas second term (Ghost I am sure you can relate). As it turns out Janet Reno was on heading up the ops board and had determined that with the right wind conditions the Vmax could actually reach the White House from Illinois! Needless to say we are pretty sure that our "stolen" ramp is actually sitting in some warehouse in Roswell! At this point we are trying to keep things very quiet and once again thanks for understanding. For the record we are not trying to steal any thunder from the Obama administration, that would not be possible.

As far as the wobble in the air, yes and tank slappers on landing are always an issue but please keep in mind that most of the time we are going much faster than 30-40 mph. We appreciate your vigilance Danny and its good to know that we are not the only voices of reason in the wilderness!

P.S. for some more mellow stuff from my side BLS "Blessed Hellride" is a great mello tune.:biglaugh:

I have been giving this Vmax flight some thoughts and when I read that another member here had successfully reformed a factory stock set of wheels into a set of highly technical looking wheels(and beautiful, but not really applicable here, so the tech aspects are what I'm after). Seems he used a plasma cutter to elimanate the parts not needed, a shoe strecher to bend the metal to his purposes and revolutionary heating technique to harden the metal back to required strength. I'm thinking of a belly pan, modified stretcher and a lightweight heating apparatus for this experimental idea. The Vmax will need as much "lift" as possible.
I will not go any further in a open forum such as this as I don't need those GSA types around here either. Know that if this works it will be totally undetectable from the exterior and use minimal components in it's function.

Oh No, you got caught up in same mind boggling ideas of the plasma cutter on the wheels as I did. At the bottom of the post he put the name of wheels. Though it might be possible to machine the stock wheels down a bit to lighten them, the plasma cutter thing just dont fly. Heats the metal up to much, you would never be able to true the wheel after that.

The Harley record dosn't stipulate stock or not, just a harley. To me it just looks like they grafted an MX suspention on a XR.

Still no answer on what the Vmax record is supposed to be.

No, I'm sure the bush folks...or bolks, wouldn't have done anything either, but they were from TX....not really expected....but Obies homies....jeez, maybe a kind word, couple tanks of gas.....somethin'? :confused2:

Can't get too far into this but in recent sat photos there is, what appears to be, a home-made motorcycle ramp used as a temp loading dock at Langley....recovery is not an option.....FWIW. Strongly suspect NSA (No Such Agency) involvement!

Thanks much for the BLS "BH".....excellent stuff! Found myself nodding a bit, loved the lead axe work....perfect!!

Its to heavy. Weak ass frame and way to much suspenion needed. Its suicide. Gonna bounce ur ass right off that thing. The Vmax is great but not for jumping anything over two feet. You would have to have such a smooth transition in ur landing. You would have to land on a down hill. I CALL FARSE!!!!!! ********.

Wait a second, are you/they talking about the longest Vmax jump or the longest motorcycle jump. If it just the Longest Vmax jump it probably wouldnt be that hard, dout anyone has done it.

DID someone say motivational music???

Winner winner chicken dinner. While I hate to spend time explaining details for the benefit of our competition we are going for the V-Max distance record NOT the world motorcycle record. Ad far as the it being too heavy I suggest you study some physics. I do believe that the V-Max returns to earth at the exact same rate as my Trek mountain bike and my 3500 GMC. It is however a fact that the superior sectional density of Skyshot makes it balistically superior to Evil's Harley.

AT LAST, someone with winning perspective. Unfortunately work obligations have me traveling extensively, so even if I wanted t post some pics right now it is not an option. We welcome ideas, even if we do not incorporate them in our attempt they may lead to others we do.

Well this is not true fall rate yes, energy wise no your mountain bike will not hit with tha same force as a 3500 GMC sorry.
physics 101: E=mc Squared

Sorry but I took physics in college and it is what it is. If you think other wise good luck.

I dont need your physics class, Ive got real world experience in jumping. I used to do dirt jumping on bikes and motorcycles for the better part of 15yrs, and I know damn well what it takes to jump things.
YOU should go study transitions.
I know your just full of **** on this, so dont question my knowledge of jumping things.
Nest time your watching Freestyle Motocross check out where most of those guys are from! ATV capital of the world.
