The engine on my ?96 has looked better (before I bought it!). The black around the heads (above the three ?fins?) is more gray and less black than it should be, and some of the aluminum is showing through, albeit subtley. The black on the exhaust covers has chipped and faded. It?s even more apparent after looking at some of the super clean bike pics on this site.
My question is this: Short of having the entire engine repainted (long term future), what can I do to make the engine look better?
I?m not against touching up the paint, I just don?t want the paint to look coated or caked. Any tips for making the black blacker?
