Engine hoist to pull motor?

I removed the engine w/the swingarm in place. Not really difficult. I also left the VBoost servo motor in place. It was a solo effort.

Well the swing arm is coming off for me, because there is a braced one going in its place. Yep, mine will be solo as well.

The first time I pulled a VMax motor I used a standard floor jack under the engine and used a homemade stand under the swing arm pivot points and didn't remove the out-put shaft and yoke, and was by myself, fighting it every step of the way both in and out. On the install I had a squirrel come in my shop, he looked like he was rabid and came right at me while I was in a precarious position over the bike. I dropped the motor off the jack and fell with the bike off the stand. First pics

The new motor was cake! I used a transmission jack, a small one with the adjustable table.
It just doesn't get any easier than this, I put a little grease on the new solid mounts and the motor played right into its new home.

A transmission jack would be an improvement over a floor jack, I believe.

I love how that front end with forks and all changed itself while you pulled that motor out. Nice

I guess it all depends on what you want to keep on the bike. I had the rear wheel and swingarm removed. I left the Ujoint on but I removed the tank as I had to. As the frame was mostly stripped I had a jack underneath the engine with a ratchet strap holding the engine to the jack and I wiggled the frame up and left. No prob and the rad was still in place. It worked for me. I guess if both wheels have to stay in removing engine could be easier though I never used that method as I always use the opportunity and do a overall on the bike since engine is out.

Thanks for the advise everyone.
I am going to give it a go with a floor jack this weekend.
Since I am replacing the motor, I guess I'd rather screw up the removal than the install!
