first vmax

I have had many bikes over my 40 years of riding on the road and countless bikes(still have 7 at the moment)
but i have to say this vmax would be up there with the most fun bikes i have had.
its a 1989 and needs a few minor things to get it back on the road, it had been parked up for a while.
i do all my own wrenching, so i will probably ask some questions if i cannot find them by your search history.

The factory service manual has annual service bulletins for the first ~64 pp, then major sections for areas of the bike. The Appendix has much helpful info, nut/bolt sizes, locations, torque values, cable routing, oil and water circulation electrical diagrams, and more. I suggest printing a copy and keeping it handy.

The '85-'92 uses 40mm downtubes, triple trees, and fork sliders, the '93-'07 are 43mm. If you change out the entire assembly, you can install a '93-'07 onto a '85-'92 chassis. Calipers and rotors are specific to each one, i.e, the '85-'92 setup, or the '93-'07 setup, they do not interchange, you cannot swap '85-'92 calipers and rotors onto the '93-'07 forks, or vice-versa.

The '85-'89 ignition box and pickup coil crankshaft position sensor, and wire harness are specific to those years. The '90-'07 models are different.
